Family visited for Christmas and we had a lovely time together. I spent lots of time preparing for the visit like baking, cooking, decorating to make it a place of rest and fun too for their visit.
It is a family tradition on Christmas morning to enjoy potica with coffee @ breakfast. My mom brought nut potica, poppyseed potica, and a cheese roll pastry she bakes too. Now the younger generation remembers as children how they always liked chocolate chip pancakes they used to order @ Perkins Restaurant. I made them the pancakes. I also made a few poached eggs too along with bacon & maple sausage patties.
We opened our gifts on Christmas Eve. Had a big meal Christmas Day and I prayed the Numbers blessing upon us all to coordinate w/ the the Numbers blessing magnet that was sitting @ each placecsetting @ the table for them to take home with them.
We went for a drive to a house that decorates their lights to coordinate with the music being played on a local radio station. We also watched Call the Midwife holiday special on PBS. I enjoyed it so much that I watched it again the next night after all went back home to where they live. I washed all the bedding, towels, etc. and put away serving pieces too. The house was back in order again so I could be ready for work the next day on Monday.
We all went to lunch before my mom & son started their trip back home. My daughter didn't fly out until that night so we did a little shopping together that afternoon. Heading to the airport I called to see if my son and mom arrived home safely. They hit a pocket of traffic due to an accident so they decided to take a re-route so as to not have to sit in idle traffic for an hour. Their journey re-route took them high up in the mountains. It was scenic, they drove through a little town too. All arrived safely back home too. Imagine that, no delayed/cancelled airline flights too.
See the wind breaker I was wearing in the family photo. They insisted I had to cover up the Cleveland Indians baseball former logo. They did not want to offend anyone. That is so silly because I was raised up knowing the Chief Wahoo symbol associated with the Cleveland Indians not that rename, goofy title now, the Cleveland Guardians. It was a piece of history they covered up. Anyway, I am not a big baseball fan I really just like this wind breaker it is probably 30+ years old. The last picture I liked the effect it shows from the camera flash.
Enjoy the video too about the Stones River Battlefield @ the beginning of this blog entry. Great story behind the battle about a song both sides related to the night before the battle, "Home Sweet Home."
