This is how you make it: melt shortening and add to it flour. You stir it in the pan until it is a beautiful golden color. You then add that to the sarma to thicken the sauce. I then take some of the sauce and add to the pan to get the last bit of the roux and then place that in with the pan of sarma. It does amaze me how by just adding that 1 step transforms the sarma to make it from good to yummy.
I have found that there just seems to be no way to only make a few cabbage rolls @ a time. It really is a time consuming project and you can see why I don't make it just for myself because I have not found a way to make it scaled down to serve 1 or 2 people. I would guess this would be in the category of "labor of love" when taking on this cooking project. It is my pleasure to make this for my family.
While it was baking in the oven I was crafting a few Christmas cards. I also was determined last night to get all the pans cleaned up and put back in order where I store them. I like organization and I did a bit more Christmas decorating too, all before bedtime.
Well, I am up now so instead of wasting time I just might sing a song to Jesus while making another Christmas card. That is what I did last night, singing while making cards with Sid Roth's television station on too.
Early morning card I just created @ 3:25AM. The song I am singing has words like this "Holy Spirit take control Holy Holy Spirit make me whole. Spirit, Spirit, Spirit make me whole." I do not know if this is a recorded song but it is the song I am singing with the melody He gives to me.
