May I Suggest A Great Book To Read, "The Last Lecture" by Randy Pausch

I received this book months ago as a gift. I started reading it and seemed to lose interest at the time. The giver of the gift recently asked me if I ever read the book. I replied that I got to a portion of the book and stopped reading it. They encouraged me to continue reading it that I would be blessed if I read it through to the end. I completed it yesterday evening and I am glad that I did.
For being a fairly young man that got pancreatic cancer and having to leave a young family behind when he died, he sure did live a full life. His life was one that he took a hold of his dreams and did not let them sit in limbo somewhere, he achieved his dreams. That in itself is an accomplishment. It caused me to ponder about dreams and goals I have in my life. Are there dreams in your life that are yet to be fulfilled? Do not settle for less than what you are called to do with your very life. You know we are not promised tomorrow per the bible so make the most of this day today and live it well. It is good to plan for the future but do not rely on always putting it off for tomorrow and then another tomorrow and another etc. etc. etc. Do what needs to be done today and do not regret not fulfilling what needs to be done today, in other words do not procrastinate today and think you have all the time in the world to do something for you may only have today to complete it. Today will only come into your life once. Once the day is gone there is no going back to today because it will then become yesterday. Does that make sense? Strive for excellence in your life and complete your job with excellence today. It does not matter what your position is in the company you work for, do your job with excellence today and you just may be pleasantly surprised where your tomorrow may take you with the company. Be content in performing your job with excellence today for you just never know who is noticing your quality of work and they may just want to promote you or even hire you for their organization. Once again, do your job with excellence today and be thankful that you are employed if you are employed.
If you are not employed and are seeking employment, I encourage you to seek employment with excellence also. Be diligent and do not give up hope. If you are diligent in your search for work there just may be someone out there today that reviews your application and is willing to talk further with you to see if you are the right fit for their company.
Either situation, the word for today is to complete your work with excellence.

You Never Know What You Will Hear When You Set Your Radio Station To A Christian Radio Station To Wake Up To.

I listen to a Christian radio station that I set on my alarm to wake up to each day. I originally set it for one Christian station and it actually goes to another Christian station figure that one out. Today I woke to hearing my name announced that I won a contest. What a pleasant surprise to hear my name announced on the radio but better yet, that I won. I usually do not win things. Today, Holy Spirit said it was the day for me to win.
Guess what? They asked the listening audience to call in with what they had on their Christmas wish list. I called in to say I won, and that was on my list. To win the contest. They asked me what I would do with the gifts if I would keep them or share with others. I responded I will let Holy Spirit guide me in that. I was also asked what am I seeing when I am shopping in reference to hurting people. I responded that they want kindness and if you listen to them speak enough you will know what they are going through in their life and you can then respond with kindness to them. They then went on to say that someone at the station was just saying how we are to share the love of Christ. Is that not what we are to do daily? Reach out to others with the love of Christ. It can come in the form of kindness to others and even sharing the resources you have with them too. This is not suppose to be a seasonal thing around the holiday times it is suppose to be something you do year round. Spread the love of Jesus that is in your heart with others today and see how God will open up the opportunities for you this very day to that very thing. Trust Him, He is God and He knows the very people that you will come in contact with this very day to be a blessing to them. I have been there before when I really needed a word of encouragement and sure enough He put someone in my path to get that word to me. Why not reciprocate it to another today, we can all use a bit of encouragement every day right? I do not put my trust in man I do put my trust in Christ. Lord, may you continue to bless this radio station immensely with your grace, wisdom, love and financial blessings to allow them to take the message of Christ to the community. Bless the anonymous giver of the gifts that were given to this station to be a blessing to the recipients of the contest. Bless them seven fold. In Jesus name I pray this and the people said AMEN.

What Does A Woman Do When A Man Tells You That You Have Beautiful Hair? This Is How I Responded...

I picked up a seasonal part-time job in retail and this is what I experienced. In the retail industry that I am in you are to greet the customers and mingle with them and see if they are finding everything they need. I also gift wrap too. I do enjoy wrapping presents for people. If I can make a gift look nice and appealing for the customer to present to the recipient of their gift then that makes my day. Gift wrapping to me is not a chore but it lets my creative flair flow. It could be the simplest gift but it is in the presentation that warms and touches the heart. The receiver feels like you took the time and effort to make it pretty just for them or you took the time to let someone else make it nice for you because you care about the person you are giving the gift to.
I noticed that a man kept looking at me and I was cordial and said hello. I would walk around and then I would find this same man was looking at me. I thought nothing of it and continued to work. He then told me I had beautiful hair. I think I said thank you and then he told me again I had beautiful hair. What does a woman respond to a comment like that? This is what I said. I thanked him again and commented that your hair is only as beautiful as when you leave the hair salon and you know how to make it look just as nice as when the hairdresser does your hair. He then said that you are either beautiful or not and that I was beautiful. I thanked him and continued to work.
Well, later on he made a purchase and guess who wrapped the gifts? I had to individually wrap a few items and he then commented that he noticed I was not wearing a wedding band. I just ignored that comment and kept on wrapping. He shared without me asking that he was divorced, his age, blah blah blah and I was polite and continued to wrap. I gave no indication that I was interested in him. I was cordial and kind for that is my nature and I am also suppose to be in the position that I work in. It caused me to realize it is time to get out my pseudo wedding band and start wearing it again. Guess what I wore the next time I worked? You guessed right, the ring. An acquaintance said to me when I shared this story that how is a man going to know that I am single if I go around wearing a wedding band looking type of ring? I responded to them that God knows who this person is that He has set aside for my life and they will figure it out I am not to worry about that. I am not afraid to share with others when they compliment me, I tell them it is Jesus in me. That is when Holy Spirit leads me in that direction.
The other day I was at the grocery store and I wanted to get in line by one register but I felt Holy Spirit prompting to get in another line. I did, only to find out that He used me to encourage another person that was working in that particular line at the store and not the other line. This particular store is located in a multi religious community. I try to be mindful and respectful of a person for they may be of  a faith that does not celebrate Christmas. The woman bagging my purchase told me she liked my hair. At first I said thank you until Holy Spirit prompted me to tell her about Jesus. I asked her if she was Christian and I made small talk as to not wanting to insult one that is not. I now know she is open to me talking about the Jesus inside of me..I then told her that the hair style is really the Jesus inside of me is what she sees and to never be ashamed or afraid to share with others what He has done in her life. Let Him lead you in that like I did today. She then thanked me and told me I was suppose to be in her line today and she was suppose to hear what I had to say to her to encourage her. Off I went out of the store and I thanked Holy Spirit for guiding me to get a word of encouragement to her on that particular day by going into her line and not the other line I was heading for.
Do you share with others? If Holy Spirit is the one prompting and leading you then why fight it just yield. He is ever faithful and He never shames or embarrasses you. A thought for you to ponder on. What if it was the reverse and you needed a word of encouragement. Would you not be thankful that God led a total stranger across your path to encourage you? All they had to do was obey direction and open their mouth to speak and Holy Spirit fills your mouth with the very words to speak to encourage that very person. I may never know the particulars in that person's life but I do know the voice of Holy Spirit when He calls unto me. Do you know His voice and better yet, let me ask you this...do you respond to His promptings in your life or do you have a deaf ear to His call? Only you can ponder on that and answer that one. It is between you and Holy Spirit.

Thank You Christian Radio Station For Advertising A Bit More Christmas Than Santa Claus

After I posted about the Christian radio station that was advertising Christmas listening music with Santa Claus I began to see other billboard signs that related a bit more to Christmas than equating it with Santa. One has a red background and says Angels Sing and the other has a green background with the words Silent Night. The quality of the picture's I tookare not the best but here it is anyway. Thank you for not forgetting that Christ is the reason for Christmas.

Chick-fil-A, Very Disappointed In Your 2013 Calendar. Did Not Purchase It When I Actually Saw It Was A Gift Card And Not Individual Coupons. I Went To Purchase One And Then Decided Not To.

I try to purchase a cow calendar each year and then use the coupons throughout the year. For many years I did not know you were able to use the monthly calendar coupon anytime to redeem it. I thought you had to use the actual coupon for the actual item for the actual month it was on the calendar. I did that and many times there would be items I did not cash in on because I may not drink a diet beverage or want a bottled water etc. It wasn't until a year or so ago that someone told me that they accept the coupons anytime through out the year and if you will not consume that item they will apply the amount of that particular item to your purchase and deduct the amount from your bill. I am so sorry I was not aware of this earlier then when I found out about it. Many coupons were wasted prior years. However, I did enjoy using my coupons this past year. I only have one more left to use and this may be the first time or maybe the second time that I actually used all of my coupons. There will be no wasted coupons this year YAY.
Guess what I mainly purchase when I do go to Chick-Fil-A. I enjoy their kids menu chicken strip meal, it seems to be just the right amount of food for me and sometimes I do not get the drink with it. I am not much of  a soda drinker and I think their brewed plain tea without sugar is too strong for me and the lemonade has an after taste I do not care for. Sometimes I just ask for a cup of water and that is just fine. I do enjoy the Chick-Fil-A dipping sauce to not only dip the chicken strips in but it tastes great with the waffle fries if you dip them in that. I also enjoy their side salad and cole slaw on occasion too. Sometimes I get a side salad and then take the chicken strips from the kids meal and add it to the salad and it is more than enough to consume along with the waffle fries that come with the kids meal. I really enjoy the gifts they give out with the kids meal. The books are the best and I try to give them away to kids I know so they do not go to waste. Maybe they can come up with a smaller portion meal for adults that do not want to consume a huge meal and put it at a great price point too. What about a senior adult menu item and put it at a great price point for them. Remember, a lot of seniors are on a fixed income.
I went to purchase my calendar this year and the clerk made mention that this year it was going to be in the form of a gift card and not individual coupons and you had to use the card the actual month and get the actual item for that month. I was stunned at that concept and the clerk so graciously stated that it was a corporate decision to do this. I guess some executive created this one up and it will flop. That is my prediction. I never really used the calendar per say just used the coupons in the calendar. I teared out the coupons and kept them in my wallet. I would keep it in my car and tear out a coupon here and there until I figured out why not just tear them all out so as to not take up room storing it on the side of my seat. There is something about being able to tear out that coupon and present it with your purchase. Sort of like taking ownership in the transaction process. Do you cut out coupons from the Sunday newspaper? You get to pick and choose which coupons you will cut out to use with your future purchase.
Well, for many years you made money on my calendar purchase because I was not aware that I was able to cash in on the value of the coupon item to apply it to my purchase that day. When I finally found out about being able to use all of my coupons in one year you now come up with this gift card idea. How many people will not remember to use their gift card when at Chick-Fil-A because they are use to using their coupons? I guess that is modern technology. I recently heard on the radio the story of when Coca-Cola decided to change their long-time recipe for Coke and it flopped and guess what? They went back to their Classic Coke recipe and learned a costly lesson when others began to drink the competitor's product. My suggestion to the executives that came up with this idea, you should have researched better and asked your employees their opinion first for they are the actual one's dealing directly with your customers. Go back to the coupon method please, every little bit helps the consumer in the current economy we are living in. People are willing to pay your premium prices for the quality of food you provide you are ahead in that respect. Now help them out by bringing back your coupons to really let them feel (at times) that they received a bargain on their purchase when using a coupon.

What Do You Think About This Billboard?

I do not think that Santa and Christian music blend well. What do you think? I think Christmas music is not an issue. When a radio station that plays Christian music on a regular basis starts to mix Santa with the message of Christianity I think it is stepping out on a fine line. This is my opinion.  Sorry the picture is not the best quality and another business sign cut off a portion of the billboard advertisement. It is for a local radio station that plays Christian music on a regular basis. It is a radio station that has similar line up throughout the nation. I know there was a sister station in the former state in which I lived in. I do not know if this is a national advertising campaign or if this is a local advertisement?
The Christmas message is about the birth of Jesus and Santa Claus in not a part of that message. I understand that they are trying to portray that it is the type of music that a Santa would listen to meaning it is safe and family friendly type of music. No swearing words or music you would have to worry about the lyrics that your family might listen to. Are people afraid to mention Jesus in a billboard? That is the heart of Christian music right? I guess I am a bit old fashioned when it comes to giving credit to where credit is due. We would not even have a Christmas if Jesus did not come into our world as an infant. He left the splendors of heaven to come to earth so He could set us free from bondage and the like. He did not stay an infant laying in a manger did He? No, He grew up and when the timing was right and He was to step forward in His calling and purpose on earth the ministry began in His life. Wonderful miracles too numerous to even all be listed in the bible were performed to bring hope to people that needed healing, deliverance and even to raise the dead to life again.
It is for nostalgia purposes I think that people like to still think of Him as an infant laying in the manger on that glorious night but don't leave Him there as a helpless child. He is the great I AM, the Alpha & Omega; the beginning and the end. He is the one that spoke to the winds that calmed the sea in the storm on the boat when the apostles were concerned about their lives in this storm. He called forth Lazarus from the dead and he came back to life. He fed thousands of hungry people when he turned the fish and bread into multiplicity to feed these people. He put the devil in his rightful place when He told him "It Is Written." He chose to take on the sins of humanity so we would not have to live in sin but be able to ask His forgiveness when we do sin and ask Him to cover it with the blood that He shed on Calvary to forgive our sins. The bible states that if we ask forgiveness through Jesus it is forgiven and forgotten as far as the east is to the west. That is a Jesus that is about love.
Christmas is all about love. It is not about the abundance of presents one spends multiple dollars on it is about the presence of God in your life. Presents are fun and it is fun to not only get them but fun to give them also. The greater present of all is the gift of salvation which is a free gift given to those that accept it from Jesus. This Christmas, may the best gift you receive is salvation in your life and heart. Why not step out on a fine line so to speak but for the gospel and inviting Jesus into your heart. Once you do that your life will become so much clearer and brighter if that makes sense. Peace in your heart seems to overspill on even the daily chores you encounter. Once you ask Jesus into your heart and life you will look at sunsets and the night sky filled with stars but see them in a more clear light if that makes sense. I remember hearing a preacher on a local radio station (not the one in the billboard advertisement though, I do not think they have preaching programs just listening music.) reminisce about when they gave their heart to Jesus and were filled with the Holy Spirit how everything just seemed so much crisper and brighter in their life. They looked at the same sun or sky but it just appeared brighter to them. That is what happens when you invite Jesus into your heart. The same old things you may have done out of routine seem to come to life or life is given to them. That Christian song you use to sing or hum to now has meaning in your life because you are actually experiencing it in your life now. One of my favorite things I enjoy now is singing a good old fashioned gospel hymn and experiencing the words as I sing the song. That is Jesus that touches your heart and causes one to live the words they use to just sing but now the words come to life in your life.
This same preacher reminded us to go back and visit the place where you invited Jesus into your heart. After I heard him mention that it has put a stirring in my heart to want to go back to the very location where I invited Him into my heart. That location is many miles away from where I live but if you should see one day a picture on my blog with an explanation you will know that I did re-visit the location. It will not be the exact location per say though, because I was on a lunch hour break sitting in a food court reading the book by Benny Hinn, "Good Morning Holy Spirit." I can still remember the tears in my eyes as I read the prayer at the end of the book. That book so impacted my life that I even purchased a copy of it and donated it to my local library back then. I do not even know if the food court is still the same at this location, that was years ago.
Remember when I showed you a picture of the area where Jesus healed me once? I love to drive past that area just to remind me of how real Jesus is if you allow Him to be in your life. I cannot forget the day when I was in so much pain and truly did not know how I was going to drive myself home I was over an hours distance drive away on highways from home. I literally cried out the name "Jesus" in my car and the pain lifted and I was fine and drove home just fine. That still touches my heart when I think of the love that He poured out on the cross just for us. He is not dead but very much so alive and call upon His name and let Him touch your life. I can look into a beautiful sky filled with stars on a crisp evening and see His beauty and look with wonder and amazement that those stars stay in the sky and that beautiful moon lights up the sky. I can see the blessings in each day. Can you see these things also?
Life is not going to be a piece of cake for you but with Jesus in your heart you will see the blessings in the day that will seem to outweigh the troubles in your life. When there is no one around to pray for you in the middle of the night Jesus is there. Ask Him to intercede for you or better yet ask him to speak to you through the word of God. I get some of my best direction when He speaks to my heart through scripture. Just yesterday I was laboring about something and how I wanted to send a correspondence with my thoughts in it and He directed me to scripture in Isaiah to read. I did not need to concern myself with the tone of the correspondence sent He assured me He will take care of it and send a cordial response. That is what I did. Trust in Jesus for He sees the grand picture when we can only see a tiny portion of it here and there.
May you have incredible peace in your heart and home this very day and remember the reason for Christmas. A Savior was born into our world to come and bring life to those that choose to call upon Him. I still remember the tender tears that filled my eyes when I invited Jesus into my heart. Do you remember when you invited Him into your heart? It is a good thing to reminisce about that moment in your life. Things may be hectic in your life right now but think back to what your life was really like before you invited Jesus into your heart and then it doesn't look so bad now does it?
One more thought to share with you. I went to look in Isaiah just now and I opened it up in my bible to Isaiah 55 and I was so blessed right now with what I found in my bible. I must have been reading this scripture to one of my children years ago for their notes are written with their printing in my bible. The scripture verse is Isaiah 55:11, " My word, which comes from my mouth, is like the rain and snow it will not come back to me without results, but will accomplish whatever I want and achieve whatever I send it to do." The notes printed in my bible are "Hi god I (heart symbol drawn) you, then a cross drawn with these words to follow, Send To The Nations." A little bit further down on the page they also printed these words "Praise God Mom."

A Brief Video I Captured. What Do You See When You Look Into The Night Sky?

Word of Encouragement; Eileen Fisher: "I Say It Is a New Day and a New Hour"

Eileen Fisher: "I Say It Is a New Day and a New Hour"

How Many Remember The "Ace Hardware" Jingle In Their Commercial? Let Me Share With You That They Are Still Helpful Today.

My mom shared a great story with me the other day. She had a Christmas glass block decoration and the Christmas light bulbs burned out in it and she had to replace them. It was a bit of a challenge but she was able to get the set of mini-lights out of the glass block and then she was in search for new lights to replace the burned out lights. She found a set or two but they seemed to have too many lights on them or two plugs on them and it would not work for this project. She went to the Ace Hardware Store and guess what? They solved her problem. They were so kind, gracious and "helpful" to her. They cut off the second plug and she was then able to go and finish her project. She was amazed because she did not know you can cut off a portion of the lights without getting electrical repercussions. I did not know that either. My mom is in her 80's and she was so proud that she was able to accomplish this project. Thank you Ace Hardware for making her day great with your kindness, knowledge and helpful way. That is why I still like local hardware stores. I use to live in a small town and I just loved going to our local hardware store because they gave great customer service to their customers. I would think men like to go to hardware stores because they have all the stuff that men may be interested in. I like also going to hardware stores because they usually have a great answer to helping me solve something when working on a project that needs to be completed. I have also encountered helpful women clerks at hardware stores too.

I Was Able To Capture Another Picture Of The Billboard That Truly Does Bring A Smile To My Face Daily. Coca-Cola You Have A Winner.

I was able to snap another picture of my favorite billboard sign. This time no branches are blocking the view of the sign. I trust it will bring a great big smile to your face too.

Isn't this adorable
