I can only describe this as a gift given to me. It is as tough I pick up a percussion instrument and Holy spirit plays it through me. Recently I purchased a rain stick percussion instrument. I had one years ago but I blessed a Nazarene church with it for their praise team. So, Holy Spirit keeps speaking to my heart LET IT RAIN LET IT RAIN. No sooner than hearing those words the image /thought of a rain stick comes to me. I sought one out and purchased it. I take it with me to church and as Holy Spirit instructs me I play that instrument. At times it is the sound of a gentle water sound that comes forth. Other times it is a rushing sound of water that comes forth with power in the sound. I can only explain it like this...I am in worship and praise also with Holy Spirit it is as though I am here at church but I am with Him if that makes sense.
Twice now men have mentioned to me that there is an anointing when I pick up and play the rain stick. I get it, when women tell you that you think yes they are in tune with Holy Spirit. For men to share this with me that is a different subject. I guess I have to open my eyes to see that men are definitely in tune with Holy Spirit. We do not give men enough credit in this realm as we should. I was at a church gathering and I was a little worried that they would not allow me to bring in to this event at the door check my rain stick. I kept thinking they may not see it as a instrument. My friend I then asked if they could bring it in for me. She did and the person thought for a moment about it that was checking your belongings at the entrance and let us go in with it. Yay to Jesus. The person knew about rain sticks and commented that if it was a rock concert that they would not have allowed it in to the event. He also said for us to not hit someone on the head with it at that event. while using it. I played that instrument during praise and worship. There was a young man that sat in front of me and we struck up a conversation. I noticed he was a worshiper. When you are a worshiper you just connect with other worshipers. I wrote down what he said to me, "it is a tangible anointing." In reference to me playing the rain stick. So after preaching we go back into praise and at that moment I tap him on the shoulder and ask him if he would like to use the rain stick. At first he hesitated then he took the rain stick and used it. See, what is freely given to you, you should then freely share with others. I never force things like this upon people. Holy Spirit gives the nudge and I respond. I also know that if the person rejects the offer I do not get upset about it I just move on.
Men I highly encourage you to follow Holy Spirit and yes, you do hear from Him. Such a blessing to the church, such a blessing to the church. Oh one more thing, when people comment on me playing the rain stick I point it all back to Jesus it is Him not me. Amen. A final thought I shared with my friend that God was going to really bless her for taking on the challenge of getting the rain stick into this event for me. She brought it in for me and I was able to minister with that very instrument.
