This Is The Song That Draws Me To The Upcoming Movie, Mama Mia 2 Here We Go Again."

TEN years after the original film, Mamma Mia 2 is returning this summer.

The trailer for the sequel was released and fans are chomping at the bit for another hit of the musical movie – but where was it filmed?

In this new film, Sophie (played by Amanda Seyfried), returns to her childhood home pregnant and single.

The movie features many of the old cast like Dominic Cooper, Pierce Brosnan and Julie Walters, but there are some new faces too – like Lily James who plays a young version of Donna – Meryl Streep’s character.

Another one of the big stars – who appears in almost every scene – is the new filming location.

The story is supposed to be set on the Greek island of Kalokairi and last time it was mainly filmed around Greece.

But this time, the producers moved the filming location to the remote Croatian island of Vis, which sits off the Dalmatian coast in the Adriatic sea.

The island, which had a population of 3,617 durnig the 2011 census, takes two and a half hours to reach by ferry from Split.

Of all the Croatian islands, Vis is the most mysterious – even to locals, according to the Lonely Planet.

The island was cut off to foreign visitors from the 1950s up until 1989, and it also served as a military base for the Yugoslav National Army so many of the locals fled the area.

This, essentially, is why the island is a popular destination today.

Due to being largely underpopulated for such a long period of time, the isolation preserved the island’s charming landscape.

Now tourists flock to Vis to enjoy the fresh cuisine and the rugged coastline, numerous bays, beaches and caves.

During the summer the temperature can climb up to 40 degrees so the best time to visit is during August and September.
The island won't break the bank either - with hotels costing from £200 for a room for seven nights and flights from £90 return from the UK to the nearest airport in Split.

If you’re a wine drinker, then this is also the place for you.

Vis produces some of Croatia’s most popular white wines and you can see miles of vineyards across the island.

The most convenient route to Vis is via a two hour boat ride that leaves from the mainland town of Split.
This was taken from The Sun, Digital Travel Editor did you notice the typo error, I did. Durnig should probably read during.

I am drawn to this Movie via the music. My family heritage comes from this region. I have been to several areas in Croatia, Dalmatia, Bosnia Herzegovina and Plitvice Lakes. I have not been to the island where the movie was filmed but it sure does look beautiful doesn't it. I have been to Dubrovnik and that is beautiful, right on the Adriatic Sea. When I was in grade school and high school I belonged to a folk group of my family heritage. I sang, danced and played a string instrument, it is called a prim. To me I thought it resembled a small mandolin. We performed and of the three things I mentioned the least favorite aspect of performing was playing the instrument. The strings of the instrument use to hurt my finger tips. I remember another reason I was not so fond of playing the instrument. We were allowed to use sheet music for rehearsals and place it on a music stand. Any performances no music stand with sheet music on the stand we were expected to have the songs memorized. On top of that we were not suppose to look down at the strings of the instrument or at your fingers while playing the instrument. We were expected to perform the song playing the instrument by memorization and knowing the frets of the instrument and selecting the right notes etc. The plus to playing an instrument, I can read notes on sheet music. I am not a pro at this but I think I can still remember by looking at a note how long you are to hold that note. That was many years ago for me. My favorite probably was the dancing and singing. At one point we had a choreographer that thought outside of the box and we were taught dances from other countries. I liked when we taught a dance from Israel and Greece. When we performed we wore a costume from that region we were dancing from. Some of these costumes had a lot of material in them. I  guess that is why I liked the costumes that were made for us when we performed the dance from Greece and Israel. To me it was different in looks compared to the costumes we were use to wearing.
