No Travel For Christmas This Year

I travelled recently to be with family for a family member's home going/memorial mass. I will go and see my family in January since I am not heading there for Christmas. I am perfectly fine with not celebrating with a family dinner on Christmas since we will gather in January and celebrate then. Sometimes it is nice to have solitude and not be on a rushed schedule to go here and there and everywhere. I remember those days and yes, they were fun but you also had to be a planner.
I fondly remember this story. The children were younger in age and we were heading to my mother's home for Christmas dinner. With what happened we were going to be late but this story sure did redeem the time for us. About 20 minutes away and we had a tire blow out on Christmas Day. No sooner did I pull over on the highway and along comes an African American gentleman that offered to change the tire for us. I did not even have to get out of the van while they changed the tire. I offered to him if he would like some money and his response to me was that he just does this. I noticed something rather peculiar in his back window of his car a sign that said God is my co-pilot. He was there , he changed the tire and then he was gone. I firmly believe that he was an angel sent to help us. When I shared that story with my mom she agreed too.
If you are with family/friends take the moment to tell them how much you cherish them and love them ok. If not, then tell the same to Jesus ok. When I was in Ohio I purchased some mini milk/dark chocolate buckeye candies for my children to nibble on. My son tells me he only likes Malley's buckeye candy. So what did I do? I ordered a box to be delivered so they can have a sweet treat from me while he visits with his Ohio family. I guess those are the kind of things a mom does. I suppose a dad does similar things also. We tend to know what our children like and we want to bless them in their lives. That is the fun of being a parent. Is there something you remember about your children that they like or even liked as a child? Go ahead, go and bless them and you will be glad that you did. Even if it is only for memories sake.
