I have a dear relative that is now in a hospice house care facility. When I found out my son was going to be travelling back home I sent a text message to them both. I asked them if they would be able to go and visit this relative of ours and take them a hug and kiss from me. Do you know what they did? They went and visited for about 30 minutes and gave this relative a kiss from me. It probably has been years since they were at this location. I recall it a biter sweet moment in time for my son. See, my father really was not the nicest to him and he really loved my daughter if I can be honest with you. It was at this very hospice house that my father in his last days before he went to be with Jesus actually looked at my son and told him he loved him. Back then it must have been a feast day for St. Teresa of Avila I think and here the least likely one actually reads some prayer he had in regard to St. Teresa and read it to him. Imagine that. The least liked per say is now reading comfort to his grandfather in his last days of living. I told you it was bitter sweet.
My children are a true delight to not just me but their father also. They both have hearts of compassion and love. They really do. When it comes to family they are there for you. Did you know my daughter actually went around and took pictures to bring to my mom for her birthday celebration of places nana used to go and even a picture of her apartment building she lived in. She lived right on the shores of Lake Erie and some of the sunsets were just spectacular. Let me tell you the wind surely could pick up in a snow storm being right there by the lake. She even brought Nana some of her favorite poppy seed filling "Solo" brand for when she makes poppy seed potica. She stopped by the local Croatian butcher shop and bought some rice sausage for Nana and the owner knows my mom and he sent with my daughter I think it was 6 kielbasa as a birthday gift to her. How many kids do you know that will go out of their way to do acts of kindness like this for their Nana? Or acts like visiting our relative for their mom? I told you they are great children. Even my son being in town for just a few days said he was going to stay at Grandma's house one night so he could visit with her and the other night at his Dad's house. I love that my children have family loyalty I really do. Even though my former husband and I are divorced does not mean you cannot raise up quality children together.
There is a prayer I have taped to the inside cover of my bible. I got it from Kenneth Copeland Ministries years ago. If you have children maybe you would like to pray this prayer for them.
"So instead of fretful, tormented prayers pray something like this: Lord I love my children and I'm holding them before You right now. I see You holding them in Your arms, ministering life and peace and comfort to them. Lord I realize that You love them far more than I ever could. And Father, I pray for the peace of God that passes all understanding to stand guard over their hearts and minds. Help them Lord to be full of You, to know You, and worship You. And Father help me to see my children the way You see them. Help me love them with Your love."
