I went to church on Mother's Day and was most thankful for the message Larry brought forth. I really do like going to church in a church setting. Meaning no skinny jeans. fog machines and big screens per say. I truly never did like going to church in a dark (low or no light) church setting. I again say, if there is nothing to hide then why darken the lights in the church setting/atmosphere. We are not going to church to feel like we are in a nightclub type of setting. When did this concept start to be developed? It just gives the pretense of hiding things in the dark even though the word of God is being preached. We are not at conferences on Sunday we are at church. When bright stage lights become so bright it is hard for the preacher to see hands raised in the congregation for a salvation call that might be a bit of a hindrance do you think. I have been at church settings like this before when the preacher has to like put up their hands to their forehead area to maybe lessen the bright lights shining on them to look into the congregation. I do not know why I am on this subject again. Preach with the lights on and look into the eyes of your congregation and not just preach to them but preach with them.
Larry paid a high compliment to both his mother and his wife, Laura. I did not know Laura was a nurturer and she loves to feed the birds. Praise God. I felt led to pull out one of my 2.00 bills and take it to her after the service and ask her to please put towards bird seed the next time she gets some to feed the birds. I briefly shared with her how I loved to feed the birds where I used to live. I can no longer feed them where I currently reside but I am allowed to feed the hummingbirds and that I miss feeding the birds. I even shared with her how I gave my bird feeder to an elderly neighbor where I used to live to take care of the birds there. After church, onto shopping. I stopped at Cracker Barrel to pick up 2 more nail files, this time they were reduced even lower then the day before. Then I saw a coffee mug that intrigued me, peacock feathers. The peacock appears according to the hot or cold liquid you place in the mug. I love innovative things like this so it was reduced from 8.99 to a little over 2.00 dollars. I was also picking up red, white & blue Swedish Fish for family snack time @ the wedding. The white fish are lemon flavored, and the blue fish blue raspberry, and of course, the red the standard flavor. Guess what? The best part is they are made in America.
Off to Macy's I searched and found nothing I liked. I spoke briefly to a person in management because they seemed under staffed to help customers. I was in one section and had to go to another section to even find help and where registers were open to ring up sales. They shared how they had 25 openings and how hard it is to find people to work. This is the same conversation I had with the manager at Cracker Barrel when I noticed some of their bags were of thinner quality material. She shared how the places they would get their bags from in some cases the factories are not open yet. We briefly talked about how I heard they are also struggling to find employees to work a the store. President Biden you really need to cut off the freebies that are holding people back from going back to work when they are called back to their job to work again. I am seeing a general consensus that they are liking sitting home collecting unemployment at a higher rate of pay then the rate of pay they would get if actually working again. Please stop or curtail this it is hurting our economy. You have people that are wanting to shop but there is a lack of sales staff to assist you so guess what? You will start to see a decline in people shopping at customer service oriented retail stores and go to the discount stores more and more because they do not expect customer service to be stellar there. You are basically on your own unless you request assistance at the jewelry counter at the discount stores that is.
I then stopped at Dillard's and found a beautiful reversible tunic with pizazz. Well made and beautiful embroidery design trim and both sides have different embroidery work colors along with 2 different patterns of material. Apparently wide legged style pants are in style now. I also purchased a pair in black to coordinate. When I went into this store I said Lord I want to buy something that makes me feel pretty and He sure did come through for me. It is a designer brand and it was reduced from 149.00 to 89.00. Both sides are colors I wear all the time. One side for wearing my green colored glass frames and the other side for wearing my copper colored glass frames. I tend to purchase things that tend to coordinate with items I already have in my jewelry. I am starting to look to see the look I want to attain for the wedding. There were a few other tops by this designer that caught my attention but not for now. One in particular was not on sale now but it was one of my favorite materials, linen with bold and beautiful pattern of flowers on it. More of a casual style though
I wore my flat back suede boots yesterday to church and not as comfortable as my tennis shoes. By this time now my feet began to ache a bit but I more stop/divine appointment while heading out the door. I met Shirley who works for Dillard's. We struck up a conversation in the aisle about customer service I just knew she had to be a long time employee of Dillard's. Sure enough she is. We talked about the old days when customer service was really customer service in a department store. She shared about work ethics and I love the story she shared about her grandmother I beleive it was. Back then there was no such thing as paid sick time. If you were sick and did not go into work you did not get paid. In her grandmother's instance she would come in 1/2 hour before her time to start working and would do things like straighten up items and fold items in the store she worked at. When she would happen to get sick management noticed her consistent coming in early before her shift started to do things around the store and guess what? Management would pay her when there really was no such thing as sick time to get paid. That is a great story of customer service and such an honor to be speaking with someone that grew up on that work ethic do you agree? She shared how she forgot to bring her change of shoes (comfortable ones) with her to work and how her feet were a bit sore standing on them at work. I felt led to ask her if I could pray for her and she agreed so I prayed right in the aisle of the store where we were standing. Yes, Holy Spirit cares about a person that has worked in retail sales for maybe 25 years or so and their feet were aching. We are to take Jesus with us wherever we go.
Oh, there was another lady that helped me lots while I was trying on clothes in the other department. She would periodically come check on me to see if items worked or not in between taking care of customers at the register. She was my age so I would ask her if the tunic was not too bright or bold in print for my age. Why did I even ask that question for I know what works for this gal and I guess sometimes you just like to hear another person's opinion as a confirmation right. I am pretty confident in what works for me in styles even if it is not the traditional, conservative look. I got to be me I got to be me, to be free to be me.
When I came home there were a few more gardenia blossoms I picked and brought into the apartment to enjoy their scent.
