Sometimes when I go to a ministry event Holy Spirit shows me what to bake/take to bless the host pastors. Sometimes I really never met prior to the event or actually meet these pastors but Holy Spirit nudges me to bring a "host/hostess" gift to them in thanksgiving. I already heard Holy Spirit speak to my heart weeks ago and to start gathering one of these gifts. Due to unforeseen circumstances the event was re-scheduled once, then now re-scheduled months from now. I was prepared and a bit disappointed when it was re-scheduled the first time but I adjusted my schedule to accommodate the change. I do not know if I will be making the event with the future date already set. I go and flow with the wind of Holy Spirit and if He says stay back this time I will obey. On the other hand, if He says go I will go. As of right now I do not sense that I am to go.
So would you like to know what the plan was for this gift? I knew this pastor has children so definitely $2.00 bills would have been a part of blessing the children with. I bought a tin because this adventure was calling me to make chocolate chip cookies and I would place them in the tin. The tin says "joy" on it. I think children (since mine are already grown) still like chocolate chip cookies right? I think I shared before that making homemade chocolate chip cookies is not my forte. I found a great cookie mix by the King Arthur Flour company for them and they turn out really nice. Hey, they know all about baking so why not trust them when it comes to putting together a mix for cookies. I was going to make a mint, triple chocolate cake with ganache frosting also. I then found cute paper plates/napkins to add along with a box of Keurig McCafe Latte's. I had this all planned out, the tin for the cookies and I have a really cute cake liner that coordinated with the colors. Oh well, God has a plan in all of this. I do believe the safety and well-being of all attending does need to come first. I really would have liked to have met the proprietors of the bed-n-breakfast I was going to stay at. The wife was so accommodating and mindful of a guests diet restrictions. She was actually going to make breakfasts that are sort of tailor made to your restrictions. That is true hospitality. I even had set aside a special note card I was going to leave with a thank you written inside. I had some hard bound Reminisce books I think they would have enjoyed also to bless them in thanks. Normally, I bake and leave that with a thank you card for the proprietor when staying at an Airbnb's. Since this was a bed-n-breakfast and they know how to probably cook pretty darn good I would not attempt to leave baked goods for them.
Another time, another day I am sure Holy Spirit will show me what to do with the items. I will not be making the trip home for Easter with safety restrictions in place now. What in the heck am I suppose to do with 3/4 of a 9 X 13 size homemade banana nut cake that I made that is now in my freezer? I was going to take it with me and then frost it there? Remember, I am still not partaking in desserts, candy, things of that nature. If this is a test do you think I passed? The test on being patient and adapting to change and not feeling frustrated in it but at peace with a tiny bit of disappointment tucked in there too.
PS: Please know that if you are looking for an economical price point then the cookie mix may not fit in that category. I think I paid $4.?? or over $5.00 for that mix. It is that good though and worth paying that amount. You know it is pretty good when the front of the box states"No preservatives. No artificial colors or flavors. No corn syrup." I like to verify and sure enough the ingredient list on the box is true to that statement. I have until 10/08/2020 (the expiration date) to make/bake them.
