So with that out of the way let me share a recent story with you if I may. I told you I come from a family that truly have servant's hearts to reach out to others. My mom shared this in an email the other day. Since the family will not be gathering for the traditional Easter dinner due to the virus they will still prepare the dinner. What I love is there are 2 families they are going to make up Easter dinner plates for and drop them off at their homes. See, even in times of "safer at home" status you can still reach out and bless those you love. Even in my life I will not be making an Easter dinner. That to me is silly to prepare for one person. Holy Spirit did put on my heart to go back to that local grocery store to see if there are still Easter lily plants left for sale. If so, I will purchase 1 (bogo sale) and get the other for free and bless 2 people in my circle of life.
Well, today is usually the day my mother likes to dye Easter eggs so I know what she will be doing today. I know her and she will also have already prayed her prayers, said her rosary and will more than likely watch a program or two on EWTN television station. My mother tends to be creative when she dyes the eggs. This year she just has 2 types of dye kits to work with. My children remember fondly the times they would be with her and help dye the eggs also. There are other grandchildren that have done the same with Nana. My mother is a baker and all her baking was done in advance so it waits being distributed on plates to share with others. She is very good at making, we call it Potica or you may know it as nut roll. She makes nut roll and then she makes it with poppy seed filling also. After Easter with the abundance of eggs boiled and dyed (the ones she did not distribute to others with their care packages that is) you may see her make the wonderful Croatian butter cookies. You actually put finely grated I think the yokes of the boiled eggs in the actual batter. You would not know that if you tried them, honest, you would not.
Take the time sometime today and reach out to bless others. You just may not know what they are going through and your kind words of encouragement or even via video/phone conversation, your smile can mean the world to them. Lift up others today and you will be pleasantly surprised how you are lifted up also.
I keep buying carnations and replenishing my vase. For some reason the white, pink and variegated pink tones are the ones I am drawn to. They sit on my counter so I can see them while working and doing things in the kitchen. Not today, I placed them right in front of my computer so I can see in the near distance the beauty of the flowers and smell the fragrance too. They sit directly in front of me and oddly enough, under the dried rose I still have in place as a testimony of a person being healed with prayer and a touch of the Dalton GA anointing oil used that very day. Praise God from whom all blessings flow. Let's have a listen to that song ok:
The Martins - Praise God from Whom All Blessings Flow
Update: I spoke with my mom and she will not be making the Croatian butter cookies at this time since no one is coming over for Easter dinner (due to safer at home mode we are in currently.) She did dye the Easter eggs and yes she did watch EWTN programming yesterday like I thought she would.
