I Think I Like My Roku, Why Did I Not Use It Before Now?

In all honesty ever since I got rid of my cable I really am watching less & less tv. This has been for weeks now. I did get an antenna that is suppose to go 80-90 miles. In reality very few channels are actually available. I only really need a local channel along with I think 2 Christian tv stations. I do not know what some of the channels are? Like Grit, I think they may play western type of movies. When I say limited I really mean limited. I owned a Roku stick for a few years now but used it seldom because it was a hassle to switch the tv mode and then find things I would enjoy watching.
I am not on any type of furlough or lay off, I am still blessed to be able to work. So, there is no sitting around and watching tv during the day for me.
I did discover I believe I get a food channel or something like that on Roku and it is free. Stumbled upon the cooking show of Ina Garten. Many programs are available to view. I do not know her but I can just sense she truly does love her husband, Jeffrey. The way she speaks endearing words of love when she talks about him. What about how she just lights up with a smile and eyes of love when she sees him. You cannot make that up. People sense sincerity and she loves this man she is married to. I recently saw an episode, Anniversary Dinner. It was I believe a dinner she prepared for them to share together 39 years of marriage for this episode. She made a statement on this program that just struck my heart strings. It had to deal with something like the greatest thing you can do for someone is to make someone their favorite meal. Isn't that so true. If you love someone you want to make things that the other person really likes. I just love how she adds fresh flowers to her table setting also.
Oh to have a lovely floral garden how refreshing that would be. Having a dinner, just go outside into your floral garden and select the type & color of flowers to create the arrangement for whatever mood/theme you may be planning.
In this episode she even brought out there wedding album to share with him sometime @ the dinner table. Isn't that sweet & romantic. Go ahead and admit it, it is. She even made a mini type of wedding cake, 3 tiers of chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream frosting. She even added decorative trim to the cake. She went and found fresh flowers and used them to also be a part of the cake decorations. Apparently their wedding cake was a fruit cake, I would not have liked that for a wedding cake, absolutely not. If I recall correctly when I was married we had white cake with almond flavoring and banana nut cake too maybe a layer of chocolate. I had a creative flair back then in the 80's. I love Fall and I incorporated wheat and dried flowers into the floral theme with gardenias for the mom's. I do love the scent of gardenia. If it would not have withered so soon I probably would have liked them in my bouquet. Back then I also did a little something different with the wedding cake. Imagine a set of stairs cascading down the cake with candles on them. If you guessed right the candles were lit when we cut the wedding cake. I think I shared pictures before but let me find them and post them with this blog entry, our cake was pretty pretty in my opinion.I just tend to like things a bit off of the regular path so to speak.
Last night I used my air fryer and made 2 Delmonico thin sliced steaks. I also sautéed fresh mushrooms with a hint of sweet onion in a little butter and then some white cooking wine. I have not made a baked potato in the oven for quite a time now. I must admit it is so much easier to use the microwave. I had the time so I rubbed a little oil on the scrubbed baked potatoes and then some kosher salt on top of that. I had 2 meals from the effort of making one last night.
Are you cooking more at home now? When you prepare a meal in your home you know what is going into the meal because you are in charge if that makes sense. The other morning I actually made (it was Quaker Instant) cocoa & sea salt oatmeal. Hey I am really enjoying brewing coffee with the new coffee grounds I purchased, McCafe cinnamon mocha and it is not even decaf coffee imagine that!!!
I feel a need to maybe make a fresh pot of chicken soup with maybe rice this time what do you think? I love making soup in my electric pressure cooker. It cooks in a shorter period of time then on the stove method. I do not like chicken dark meat so I only make it with white bone-in chicken breast. Oh my gosh the chicken is so tender it actually falls of the bone as you are trying to retrieve it from the soup. I like to strain the soup and discard the celery, parsley, cabbage, tomato but save the carrots. You know what I found is the easiest way to add the carrots to the cooking process? I peel them whole (no mini carrots either) and I tend to be fussy when I peel them. I do not like to see any unpeeled section of a carrot, yuck, yuck it is most unappealing to see. I cook them whole and then when the soup is done I then remove them and cut to the size pieces I want for the soup.
I saw a nail color at the store the other day and I really did like the color but I did not think the name was so pleasant do you know what they called it? Wedding Crasher. I just may have to forgo the name and go get it the next time I am at that grocery store. Just a reminder ladies, do not forget to keep up and just maybe you may have to do your own manicure/pedicure. I do believe you should not let yourself get sloppy so to speak in this time of confinement ok. I still believe men like a well groomed woman as opposed to someone sitting around in sloppy clothes all day & night long. I could be wrong but I would guess that just maybe I am not. Just my thoughts and beliefs and if yours should happen to differ that is what you believe and I do not condemn you for that. I guess I just may come from old school type of thinking.
Well this is interesting and maybe creative what do you think? I have a pair of brown leather gloves. I have done this throughout the wintertime. I wear them when pumping gasoline and then when I get in the car I use my hand sanitizer to clean them. Just like I was cleaning my hands. So today I got this idea why not put them in the washer to clean them. They are leather and leather is durable. I did just that and they appeared to look just fine. Well, while still wet I did not put them in the dryer after all they are leather. I tried one one glove perfectly fine. The other glove not so good. I think the interior lining had to be stretched out to meet the full size of a few fingers of the glove. I could not stretch them into place with just trying it on. So, thought comes to me … I have a knife sharpener stainless steel rod type of instrument. I never use it but today I did. Guess what? After a few attempts it stretched the lining to shape with the fit of the glove. I would like to think, correction, I know it was Holy Spirit inspiration. How do I know that, it worked. See He is showing us how to be creative and even the times when to go to a grocery store too.

I made this card a few years ago. I think it has a great message, what do you think?
