Sometimes I get Holy Spirit inspiration to bake something or even make something like a card or a piece of jewelry etc. and give it that very day. Then there are the other instances I like to use a new phrase I used the other day, Quilt of Life and that experience grows upon a series of days. Let me explain a recent example. I need to make a care package for my former mother-in-law. We are friends and she has always been good to me and I truly do enjoy her company and the love she shares with me and my children. I treasure our friendship, there have been times when I go home for a visit and I have stayed with her at her house. Even though her son and I are divorced we still did things as a family. She would even go on vacations with my mother and would come and visit with my family. She went on a vacation with my mom, sister, niece and my son also. My niece does not refer to her in a formal way I think she still refers to her as grandma, that is endearing to me. Just because one gets a divorce does not mean you cut off friendships that were cultivated right? Even if I do not stay at her house and I stay with my daughter I will still try to go and visit her because we were shopping buddies way back when. I remember a time when I was on a mission that day and I wanted a certain item of clothing and it was located at another store. It was already dark and she went with me to that store to get it, yes she did. Now that I am more mature in age I know the sacrifice she made back then to go the extra mile to come with me and go to the next store. A few weekends ago I knew to venture out and purchased chocolates and the wafer cookies. I found a few weeks ago a funny sticky note pad for her also. I then gather the items and create the words of sentiment in the card. Then when timing is just right the package goes in the mail.
I noticed the other day that neighbors recently got married and Holy Spirit inspires me to bake wedding cookies (I have also heard them referred to as snowball cookies, Russian tea cakes which is the title in my cook book but I always referred to them as butterball cookies) for them and put them in a cute treat bag with a note and left it on their door handle for them to enjoy. See, you baked something for another to enjoy and to celebrate their recent marriage. Then the next idea builds upon that idea. Send enough for the couple and save some to create a thank you plate of cookies along with some of the chocolates I purchased. That was in thanks of hosting a conference. I did just that. I never met these people prior to attending the conference they hosted but Holy Spirit knows them and so I follow Holy Spirit lead in this and trust Him. Other times the items Holy Spirit shows you to incorporate may not be easily found. For example, if you are to set aside a certain amount of $2.00 bills you have to start this collection process probably weeks prior to sending them off so to speak. Banks I have found do not have an abundance of them easily available so you have to inquire each time you go and do banking until you get just the right amount you need.
Let me share this with you. When my children were young they loved getting $2.00 bills from their Nana it was like a novel thing for a child and it was their own treat money. I still bless my children with them on occasion even though they are all grown up now. It should bring forth happy memories for them as a child when Nana blessed them with them. Let me tell you this, the hand of God is in each thread of that quilt of life no less then the day when everything is made and distributed on the same day. When you step back and look at it from a distance (at least for me it is) it amazes me. He knows the exact time in history for you to gather and then for you to distribute His acts of kindness through His open and willing vessels. You see, it is the hand of God reaching with His love to touch His people on earth. Rejoice and be glad that this is the day that the Lord has made and I will rejoice in it.
Many times when I start off a prayer when I am praying with someone I start it off with something like this..."Father we come to you this day with a song of praise and thanksgiving in our hearts and I thank you. This is the day that the Lord has made we will rejoice and be glad in. I thank you that we are rejoicing, we have rejoiced and we will continue to rejoice in this very day." Do you ever have experiences like this. You get the suddenly blessing and then there is the blessing that is acquired over a period of time and when you have just the right items it is then with Holy Spirit guidance that you create and send forth the blessing. Walking with Jesus is such fun for me, it truly is. I learned this a long time ago it may have come from Joan Hunter Ministries. "I am blessed to be a blessing to bless others." So true, so true indeed. Go forth and now you create those special blessings to send forth ok.
By the way, I received a thank you from that young couple. You know what they wrote? "Thank you for the cookies! We appreciate you."
