Do You Take Holy Spirit With You When You Go Clothes Shopping, I Do And It Is Fun

I have found that when I go shopping for clothes I trust Holy Spirits nudge to get or not get something. I know that I tend to buy items that already coordinate with things I already have in my closet. I have found that a person is naturally drawn to colors that they tend to wear and they get compliments on when they wear them. For me it tends to be like a chartreuse green, teal with brown, when I wear purple and green together and even another shade of green. Another one I get compliments on is when I wear pink. Now I don't wear pastels they are not as complimentary to me as brighter and more bold colors if that makes sense.
I am drawn at times to a different sort of style, like when BOHO came back in style I am drawn to that. A lot of embroidery work I guess it reminds me a little of my college years. Sometimes I look at something and will ask someone if I am too old to wear it and they tell me it looks good. So there is no set of rules via your age. Now I still dress modest for that is proper but with a flair I would say. When I lived in a small community they would put on the cable channel the entrance of the couples attending the local senior prom. It was a big deal in this community sort of like the red carpet entrance into the prom. I would so often say why is that one not wearing a slip. They have on this beautiful formal gown and no slip underneath the dress. They take the time and spend the money to create the look and then they miss it by not wearing a slip underneath the gown. I just do not understand that. The other thing was when the guys would not get their tuxedo pants altered to fit length wise and they were bunched up at the shoe hem line and not fitted properly. One more thing that I just could not understand, not chewing gum but chomping on a piece of gum They were being filmed for local cable access and I just think maybe some chewed the gum out of nervousness I would like to think. Now where did that come from. Please note that there were some that dressed elegant and were coordinated in their couple outfits for prom. It was a big event and people would come to the venue early to see how it was decorated and then they stayed outside to watch the Seniors make their entrance into the prom. That is the type of fun you can have when living in a smaller community. It had that "family" feel to it.
OK back to shopping now, when I am not sure of an outfit or a piece of clothing I silently ask Holy Spirit and He gives me the yay or nay on the item. My best piece of advice. Listen to compliments given to you. If you receive a compliment when you are wearing a particular color then keep that in mind. I once asked an artist or maybe they were an interior designer?  why green and purple looked so nice together and they told me that colors that are opposites on the color wheel tend to compliment each other and they do. I think dark brown with teal accents or a teal shirt look nice together also. And of course, black is always a great traditional look. No matter your age still do dress with modesty that is proper and you will feel good about yourself also. My mother always taught me that simplicity is the height of elegance. I also learned from a female executive to not wear too much jewelry so if you are wearing a brooch on your jacket then maybe not a necklace also. I try to remember that because I was the one that coordinated the brooch with the necklace with the earrings with the rings/bracelet and the watch also. I guess I really like to coordinate things. Even at my age I can glean and learn from example and that is a good thing. Keep a teachable heart and never stop learning OK.
