This So Blessed Me About My Mother's Adventure Today. Me Making Meatloaf Today Is No Comparison To The Festive Meal She Had Today. God Bless You Mom.

Wow, there was a celebration today where my mother resides. You got to love this, you really do. It was an anniversary celebration of the number of years this independent living community has been operating. Here goes my moms description, she gives a pretty good one too if I may say so myself.

This was a gala type of event. "After a few hours of entertainment, and champagne toasts to the residents that have lived there for a certain range of years (she did list the year range in her email to me) who were presented with roses and honoring the staff and administrators we were served the following dinner. A salad of figs, creamed ricotta and crisp prosciutto, over a bed of greens with vinaigrette dressing. Pan seared filet mignon and lobster tail gratin, chive pomme puree blossom honey, Malibu glazed carrots and asparagus on op of mashed potatoes. Dessert was bread pudding with bourbon pecan praline sauce, whip cream on top.  Much champagne, red and white wine choice also non-alcoholic beverages. The ambiance was elegant as well as the table settings. Black tablecloths with gold ribbons, candles and vases with flowers. It was a lovely afternoon." My mom really is not a drinker so she probably maybe had a glass of wine if even that.

My mom does enjoy sitting at meals sometimes with an artist that lives there.  I think she hand paints sea shells for those to place trinkets, barrettes in along with hand painted note cards she creates too. She also met a retired college professor and she finds conversation with her enjoyable. My mom and I are alike in this respect ...there are times we just enjoy reading by a window. On those days that she does, but she would not turn down someone that asked if they could join her at her table. She says there are not much activities there on the weekends because some residents go out to eat with their family members or spend the day with them or even go shopping. This weekend my son will take his Nana to her hair appointment and spend some time together too. My sister is going to pick her up after the church service on Sunday and they will make things like her famous home made fresh cranberry relish/sauce and the family favorite to go with turkey, horseradish sauce. In preparation for the Thanksgiving gathering in AL. I was invited also but I am not joining them this year. It is a 3 1/2 hour drive to stay only 1 night. I have to pay off my car repairs I am working on so no staying at the bed n breakfast I stayed at in the Summer. I am perfectly fine with being home. When you've gone through a divorce you adapt to not spending all holidays with your children. My daughter will be with OH family. You know, you rotate which parent gets to spend the holiday with them. I think it was based on the fact if it was an even or odd year how the holiday schedule was set up. The court set that schedule up for the parents to follow. I still recall having to pull out my copy of the divorce decree to look at it when it came to holiday rotations based on the year ending, be it even or odd year ending.  Now, my former husband and I had a great working relationship when it came to our children. If we needed to switch things around for a special occasion or traveling we did. So I think I will go to Cracker Barrel to get a meal. I am not making a Thanksgiving meal for one, can that even be done?
