Let's Talk About Customer Service In Retails Stores Today. I Would Travel A Distance To Experience Great Customer Service @ Trader Joe's & I Will Travel A Distance To Not Shop At A Local Bargain Hunt With The Way I Was Treated At This Particular Store This Past Week. Let's Also Add On An Experience With Joann Fabric And Crafts.

When you worked in retail sales for as many years as I have you know about excellent customer service. When I worked for Estee Lauder in May Company then it became Kauffman's you were secret shopped on a regular basis. You never knew when or who was the secret shopper. If you genuinely like sales then you treat all customers with great customer service for that is who you are. When you are service oriented you cultivate this great art of serving others with a genuine heart attitude. You either have it or you don't. If you let a person speak long enough their actions and heart attitude will manifest like I expereinced this past week.

I was at a local Bargain Hunt 1 evening and I specifically heard Holy Spirit to go to that particular store to shop. I was fine and I was looking everything over in the store like I usually do. The quick look around for things to catch my attention then I go into concentrated shop mode. When I am looking for a particular item. I am down an aisle at the end of the aisle and there is a wardrobe type of rack on wheels at the end of the aisle blocking me from exiting the aisle to go down the next aisle. I politely ask the sales clerk if they could move it a little so I could sneak by to go to the next aisle. I waited and no response so I thought maybe they did not hear me. I then asked politely again if they could move the rack just enough for me to squeeze by with my cart. This employee got an indignant attitude with me and said she was working and why don't I go back the other way down the aisle to go to the next aisle. The aisles are narrow enough that in order for me to do that I would have had to walk with the cart backwards all the way down the aisle in reverse to fulfill her request. Then I said I am the customer and I would like to go down the other aisle. She moved the rack to let me get by and I think I thanked her.

She just wouldn't let it go so while am down the next aisle finding things I liked I heard her telling another employee that I knew she was down there working and she was complaining about me. I then spoke up and said I would like to speak to a manager. She responded she was a manager and I then responded to her that she needed to learn about customer service. She walked away in the direction of where the store office is. I then said to the other employee I hope that was not discrimination/race related. That employee said to me why would you say that. I continued to shop thinking there was no manager in the building because she led me to beleive that there was none and she was the manager on duty. I was a little surprised when the store manager was asking me if everything was ok. I know the store manager because I shop at this store lots and you get to know things like that. I then shared my version because she apparently went to his office and must have told him her version. So, she apparently did not disclose the truth to me as he shared he was in the office doing paperwork. I then relayed how I worked in sales many years and received a personal letter from Mrs. Estee Lauder along with winning contests while working for Estee Lauder. I also reminded him that I shop at this store lots. I mentioned to the store manager that his manager in question needed to learn about customer service and what about treating the customer right. I also mentioned do you think this was race related. He assured me it was not. I have to take his word about that. I continued to shop and spent a bit under 50.00 that night.

I went home and decided I did not like what I purchased and was going to return the items to Bargain Hunt. Another thing, I still think their dressing rooms are not open to use so it is more effort on the consumers part to purchase and then bring back instead of just using the fitting rooms to see if  you like it before you make a purchase. My dilemma now, do I take them back to another Bargain Hunt or just go back to the store where I purchased them? I thought about it and why cause a deficit at another store location with a return to come off of their daily sales. I was conjuring up how I was going to word this return if I should see the store manager that day. I wanted to so badly press the point even further but Holy Spirit said He would take care of it and just say I changed my mind and was returning them. I followed His instruction in this matter because He said He would take care of this for me (He, is referencing Holy Spirit.) I obeyed and went about my day.

Complete opposite experience yesterday @ Trader Joe's, they really get customer service. Bravo to that. So many helpful sales people to answer questions and even 2 shoppers that recommended a product and I bought it. Their flowers actually smell like flowers should smell too. For months I stopped buying carnations from Kroger's & Walmart because I would smell them in the store and they did not even have the scent of carnations. I found out from my neighbors that told me some spray flowers with fragrance. That makes sense because months ago I did not lose my sense of taste or smell and I was beginning to wonder about it when I would smell carnations at these 2 stores and there was no carnation scent to them. I would periodically want to buy some but I kept experiencing why they have no scent? I also purchased fresh eucalyptus and put them in a vase and made a smaller arrangement to keep by my desk. Imagine that, carnations and eucalyptus that smells like it is suppose to smell.

Oh, I also bought a seasoning and I could not wait to get home to try cooking with it. I was compelled to make scrambled eggs last night for dinner and this seasoning was superb. I am thinking the next time I make focaccia bread to use this seasoning instead of Italian seasoning on top of it before you bake the bread. My neighbors shared how they use this seasoning to cook with. I think 1of them suggested on toast spread cream cheese then place that on top of it. Simple things in life really do make me happy. It does not take any more time to be kind to others then the same time it takes to have an attitude with others. Simple thought for the day.

Oh my, I must admit that ever since I left Ohio I have not  really seen Fall leave colors in trees as vibrant as I would see in Ohio. I think this year the leaf colors have been spectacular as I drive and see the scenery around me. I feel confident in saying this years spectacular colors of leaves made me feel at home. Oh, if in Ohio I could feel pretty confident in saying more then likely the leaves have already fallen from the trees .It only take s a windy, rainy day for them to fall off the trees. We have been blessed with them to still be on trees for us to enjoy God's beauty. Take the time to look around and see your blessings even if they come in the fashion of leaves on trees while you still have the opportunity to see them.

Pink again, why am I drawn to pink colored flowers lately. This pink was like what a pink candy cane type of stripe would look like.

I waited for a sales event on this past Thursday to purchase a no-sew fleece throw kit to make for me. I spoke on the phone with I beleive it was a male manager at my local store location of Joann Fabric and More. He assured me that he made one of these fleece throws before and when I inquired if the fringes were marked off so all you had to do was follow the cutting marks to create the fringe he said yes. He suggested that the fringe is smaller and to make them wider. He also suggested to cut both pieces of material on top of each other at the same time so they would be equally measured when putting together. I wait patiently and go on Thursday to get the poinsettia pattern I wanted to make. I am in the store and a sales clerk is working right in this area by the fleece kits. She did not know if they were marked off to cut like a manager told me. I asked if I could speak to the male manager I spoke with on the phone and she told me he was on a call and I could not. She then said there are a few males that could also answer the phone too when you call the store. See, it was not 2 for10.00 either like the ad showed. Those were the smaller sized ones and the72 inch size I wanted was a bit over 17.00 as the sale price. I then actually looked at the material and there were no guiding lines to cut the fringes. I then read the instructions cut 5 inches for each fringe with 1.5 inches apart. No way was I going to have to measure and cut to make sure both pieces of fabric lined up when you went to assemble it. I did that before when I made them years ago. Such a hassle back then and I was not about to experience that again. So I will not be making this year the72 inch fleece throw. By the way, if you are having to cut 5 inches on each of the sides of material it then does not become a 72 inch throw. Why? Subtract 5 inches each side and take away from72 inches and it now becomes in reality a 62 inch throw. I would suggest if you are advertising it as a certain dimension to add on enough material pre-cut so when completed it actually is the dimension you think you are making as the finished product. Honestly, I do beleive I can purchase a throw at close dimensions already made for a much better price and no hassle to make it either. Imagine that!

I really wanted to work on a creative project so that is why I stopped in Hobby Lobby. I purchased a few items to change my Fall outdoor wreaths for Winter wreaths but not until after Thanksgiving. While in line waiting to checkout an older gentleman with an LSU sweatshirt and ball cap was telling us his dilemma. His wife was out of town and he let his puppy out of its crate for 4 hours and it apparently undid some sting decorations on the Christmas tree. He had to buy string and fix this before his wife came back home. Me and the other lady in line both agreed he had to fix that one. He said he went to the store where they bought the decoration first but it was all sold out. I shared about a wild Dalmatian dog we had and how I would never again would let a child pick out the dog from a litter of pedigree breed (I think that is the right word meaning they were paper certified dogs that were breed) dogs again. This dog did destruction and I shared just a bit about that. His accent sure did remind me of my brother-in-laws who grew up in LA. I inquired if he was from the same city he responded with a very interesting answer. I did not know this but in LA the city where he grew up in was not far enough southern so if you lived in that city you were known as a northerner. How interesting is that to be referenced when you definitely lived in the south if living in that particular state. There are nice people all around you let them tell their story and you just may learn something interesting right.

I really do not understand why people in Franklin pay a much higher price for gasoline per gallon. I saw gasoline prices in Franklin @ 3.39 & 3.49. A few miles out of Franklin I see gasoline pricing @ 3.14 and travel a little further away from Franklin you see the gasoline @ 2.89. Why is that?
