Isn't this kind of funny? When I knew I would make banana nut cake I remembered one ingredient from years ago when I used to bake this cake a little bit more than I do today. The ingredient was buttermilk. I was out and about last night after work. I took a chance on heading to church but I really did not know if there would be a church service with it being Thanksgiving eve. Sure enough, no church service. I was pretty close distance wise to a quaint city I am familiar with because I used to work in that city. So I hopped on the interstate and I found myself at Bargain Hunt in search of more of those adorable doggie Christmas stockings. This particular store did not have any of them. So, I go to a local Kroger and get the buttermilk I needed for my cake recipe. I get this idea while in the parking lot of Kroger's call a particular Bargain Hunt to see if they had any left of that stocking. They did so I was heading there and I needed to be there by 9:00pm closing time. Oh my, I made it there with a few minutes to spare. Low and behold there was my stocking. So I inquired of the other type the clerk told me they had also. They did not know what it was but I knew instantly it was for a cat. It said Nice Kitty on top with 3 fish as part of this decoration. So now I have one for my sister's new puppy and one for my son's cat, Benjamin.
When he named his cat Benjamin he told me it was to represent the Jewish heritage we discovered in our family bloodline. I must have needed encouragement yesterday. Let me share with you if I may ok. At Bargain Hunt the manager referred to me as Sunshine when processing my order. I then thanked her for calling me sunshine and she replied that she calls everyone sunshine. Never the less I still thanked her. Then that conversation led to the man behind me saying something to the extent that it was maybe due to my hair color. I then replied I think with my color it is not blonde like sunshine but maybe more like sunset with the color red I have. He then replied that I was a beautiful sunshine or sunset (I do not recall which one he referenced I just remember clearly the "beautiful" part spoken.) How sweet, how sweet. Do you think it was maybe the glory of God shining forth from me? Oh another sweet thing happened yesterday at Kroger's. I was looking for buttermilk and another couple that were shopping together I asked them if they knew where the buttermilk was located. So, a store employee is in the vicinity and I asked him where the buttermilk was located. Oh my gosh it was right in front of me but at the back of the section. There was a younger in age man much taller than I and they so graciously reached in and got a container of buttermilk for me. I thanked him and then told the couple I found the buttermilk.
Yesterday morning when I woke up and was getting ready for work I kept humming "Angels We Have Heard On High." I get in my car to head to work and guess what song was already cued up to play in my car? You guessed right that very song by Canton Junction. Obviously that was the song to put on "repeat" mode in my car and that is exactly were it is today.
My sister is hosting with her husband 20 some people today in their home. I do feel bad that I am not there to assist her, I usually do when I go and visit for Thanksgiving. My son was to bring the salad and he makes a really good salad I must admit. He learned how to make the dressing from me. It is a simple dressing . Season with garlic salt and pepper then a bit of oil/olive oil and then add vinegar to taste. My sister always compliments him when he makes the salad. My mother did a lot to help also and she made the famous "horseradish sauce" that is a family tradition amongst other items too. Let me remind she is 90 years old and she bakes when she has the energy. The past few weeks she made poppy seed rolls and nut potica's, cookies and I think a few more items too. She bakes while she has the energy and paces herself then puts them in the freezer. My mother is so sweet, she sent me money in the mail for Thanksgiving to get a dinner somewhere tucked inside a Thanksgiving card and told me I will be missed there today.
I found 2 video of Bobby Conners for you to view. I believe the first video talks about in one portion to get over the pains of the past. The second video is pretty funny in parts. He shares about "If you find a Cracker Barrel you've got a ministry, Billy Big Mouth Bass Sings. Listen and you will be glad you did. Oh, most important, Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.
You know what I did last night as I was driving home. I heard him talk about this in one of the videos so I followed through. I invited Jesus to sit next to me in the car while I was driving. I tested the spirit and I asked what do you think of the shed blood of Jesus? The response to me was that He was the blood of Jesus. I then proceeded to talk with Jesus in my car. I had a few concerns and questions and He shed light on a few things for me. I never saw it in that respective until I heard Him speak it to me. I told Him I am sorry for thinking the thoughts I thought about it and I understood what He was telling me. He told me that the enemy wanted to try and place doubting thoughts in my mind to throw me off track and I was so thankful that I did not follow through with the enemies lies.
I finished filling up the two Christmas stockings for the USA veterans today too.
