I Was Compelled Weeks Ago To See The Movie, "Judy." Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Why Did You Not Let Judy Garland Be A Child? You Put Many Restrictions On Her While Filming "Wizard of Oz." Not Very Fatherly But More Of A Control Tactic.

It was weeks ago when I started feeling compelled to go see the movie, "Judy." I think it was because I wanted to see the other side of the rainbow she so graciously sings about in "Somewhere Over The Rainbow." It was not a happy go lucky type of film but it was a reality film. It shares with you the end portion so to speak of her life/career. Interspersed throughout the film it brings you back into her world as a 12 year old working for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer.
From what is portrayed they put ungodly parameters on this child when filming "Wizard of Oz." I get order I really do understand that concept but really, she is a child still at 12 years old. No real birthday party for her when she turns 13 years old but just a photo opportunity. That is reprehensible and unthinkable to me as an adult and a mother of 2 grown children. The matronly type of figure that was apparently her overseer was portrayed as a cold and not a motherly figure type at all. Why did child actors/actresses back then received treatment like that. I always tend to be a voice for an underdog. I do not know why but that is my heart's cry. Guess what? Sometimes the underdog has been me, yes that is right, it has been me. I guess I am created to be an advocate for justice and I tend to have a low tolerance for unjust things. It causes the lioness inside of me to rise up and roar at times. I have learned to tame that roar over the years. I have learned to pick and choose my battles but when Holy Spirit says to me to take on this battle or that one I do not shy back but advance for the kingdom of God.
There are people and voices out there amongst us that are either timid or afraid so to speak to stand up and speak for themselves and that is why it is important for Christians and Christian leaders to be the voice for those that may want to speak inside of them that is. In reality they know they should stand up and speak but something holds them back from doing so. Be sensitive and you will be shown when and where to be the voice that cries out in the wilderness for those that do not speak forth. See, if I would have been the right age back when the movie was being filmed and knew of the treatment of Judy Garland back then, (I cannot say so since I was not actually there back then) but knowing who I am and what I believe in I would have wrote a letter stating my concerns back then. I just know me I do.
Children are only children for a certain period of time in their lives so just let them be children ok.
Quit overloading them with things that I did not have to be overloaded with when I was a child. We played outside in the neighborhood until it became dark outside and all of our parents called us inside for the night.
It is so sad when I see parents or care givers that are walking a child today in a stroller and instead of interacting with the child they are on cell phones talking or checking things on their phone. What ever happened to taking your child for a walk in their stroller and actually talking to them or singing them a song? I like modern technology for it allows me to write and share on this very blog. I do believe the youth of today is missing a connecting link to the reality of life. Too much technology freedom and not enough interaction with actual people. Have you ever been somewhere and noticed a group of people sitting together but they are not even talking with each other they are on their electronic gadgets? That is baffling to me for we were created and designed to interact with other people not a machine or inanimate object. Maybe it is my generation that sees this and we are to bless the good from the modern technology but pull back the reigns on the amount of time we allow children to be hooked up to electronics. Do children even read books anymore? I mean actual books not an e-reader but picking up an actual book to read.
We read to our children a lot when they were growing up. Both of our children are avid readers today. I see it like this, you can go on an adventure just by reading a good, wholesome book that is. Does Highlights magazine even exist anymore. I do not know. I do know this that there are youth out there that really do not know how to interact with others because it is all about technology interaction as opposed to people interaction. I heard and I sure do hope this changes … are children not being taught to write in cursive anymore? That makes not sense at all to me. So they will sign a legal document with just an "X" as being acceptable? Think about this, this is our future generation so if  a child is not trained in writing in cursive now how will bills and laws be signed in the future, with just an "X"? Really, go back to teaching them to write with nice penmanship. I am a firm believer of sending personal note cards and hand writing some portion of the note. Meaning, if I have a lot to share/express I will type up that portion but I do try to at least write a portion in the card with handwriting. I think there is something endearing when a person takes the time to write a note to someone. You have to plan and think about the very card you will choose to send off along with the words shared inside the card. Do you not like receiving a nice, uplifting note in the mail? I do, it always happens to seem to come at the perfect time just when I need a boost so to speak.
If you know me at all I tend to be sort of a quiet, recluse when I am at home. I like order and my time to think and praise and flow in Holy Spirit. When I am in public I tend to become outgoing and since I am not a timid child per say I do not have fears like I used to have as a child. Saying the wrong thing and not being bold to speak what was in my heart to speak in fear of being not accepted or rejected by the person speaking too. I have learned throughout the years that if I have a question or request of another the worst they can do is say no. No big deal to me at least you know instead of wondering what could have/would have happened if I only just had asked the question. Guess what, the flip side is that they would say yes to you. So see it as the glass half full and not half empty ok.
At the close of the movie (I was at a matinee) I don't think there was a dry eye in the theatre. I heard sniffles, including my own. It was a touching and tender close to the movie. You have Judy Garland on stage singing one last time the song, "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" in England. There comes a point when she just cannot finish singing the song and guess what? Two fans stand up in the audience and pick up singing where she left off and then more joined in until they were all standing and singing the song just for her. Is that not beautiful and touching your heart? Renee Zellweger did a great job of portraying Judy Garland in the movie. So, the next time you hear the song sung, "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" know there was true pain that went into that young child singing that song that touched the world and still does. You know, when I was walking out from the theatre I heard 2 ladies that were ahead of me talking and this is what one of them said, "I get goosebumps every time I hear that song sung."
