I am enjoying reading two books by the same author. The problem being is no one is proofreading these books and it does become a distraction to me as I am reading the book. Sometimes a word or two are repeated right after one another. Sometimes it just does not look like proper English is being used to express the idea/thought. Who is responsible for proofreading? I get it in one respect, as I am receiving words from Holy Spirit I tend to write them down fast as I am receiving the words. I really do get that but there comes a point when publishing a book that someone should really look over the words written so as the author is presented in the best light so to speak. When doing a Google search it is showing that editors or sub-editors should be proofreading the manuscript. I know myself when I enter a blog writing of mine that I cannot catch simple errors at times. So, when I pull it up again to view it and discover an error I then fix the error and update the blog entry.
If you are connected with a publisher should it not be the responsibility of the publisher to proof the manuscript and even a prototype of the book so as to make everyone look good. If there are blunders out there in books, doesn't that make the publishing company not look good? I have never authored a book per say, just my blog entries so I am not an expert but this is logical thinking. You proofread the manuscript first. Then you hand it off to a few trusted friends/relatives/confidants and have them proofread it. Sometimes a fresh set of eyes per say can catch a phrase or a thought that is not complete. Then you submit it. Once there is a prototype completed for goodness sake do not just trust the editor/publisher and take them on their word that it was proofed. Remember, it is your name that is going on this book. More than likely people will not look on the back cover of the book to see who the publisher was they will think that you cannot spell or bring forth a complete/sound thought.
Be cautious also if self-publishing. Remember when I shared with you all in one of my blog entries of how a self-published book had so many error in it. That particular book was actually being given out with a donation to a ministry that is well known. Yes, I know not all are writers per say and you have divine insight from Holy Spirit to share with us. In that instance I would seek out expert advice as to how to bring forth Holy Spirit wisdom in excellence.
I am so sorry that I have to share on this subject but it truly frustrates me when reading a book that is full of (a wealth of) knowledge and I have to stop and think about something because it just does not make sense or it is not spelled correctly. I am wired like this by God and He is a God of excellence and maybe that is why He created me like this? He knows I hunger to read books and when I read a book I obtain knowledge. He knows it is truly frustrating to me to pick up a book and have to stop my train of thought when I come across an incomplete thought or a word not spelled correctly. I implore you to treat Holy Spirit knowledge/wisdom given to you with utmost respect. Remember you are bringing Him forth in your writing so seek to do it with a spirit of excellence. Yes, your name is on the book as the author but who shared the wisdom with you? Holy Spirit most likely did, so put Him in a high place of honor by publishing the book in excellence.
A current example, as I am composing this blog entry to share with you. I kept hearing the word prototype but when I typed it out I originally typed it as proto type. Spell check caught the portion proto so I had to further search the correct spelling of it. Do you want to know how I do this? I select the microphone icon for Google and I speak the word into my phone. It then produces the correct spelling and even an explanation of what the word means. There really are tools out there to assist you, seek them out ok.
