This Was Written In 1996

11/13/1996

I started to attend a bible study for the first time; it was not affiliated with the Catholic Church. This prayer I composed for the bible study.
Dear gracious and loving God we ask of you this evening to extend your grace upon us this evening. Enlighten us through the working of the Holy Spirit. Fill our minds and beings with your ever-loving and gracious presence. Allow each and everyone of us to remove our egos and opinions from this hour or so. To let us become filled with the love and presence of the Holy Spirit. Inspire our minds, touch our hearts, open our ears to the words that are spoken this night. Bless us with wisdom, knowledge, and fear of the Lord. Let some of us become inspired by the words of Scripture, let others of us become filled with the words of the Holy Spirit. As you become inspired and you feel a tugging at your hearts to share the inspirations bestowed upon you, open up to the others amongst you this night. And always, we give praises to God the Almighty Father.

Years prior to this date, I purchased a prayer card from the Lourdes Shrine in Euclid, Oh. I would say this prayer repeatedly and this night I prayed it with our small group at the closing of our 2ND session of bible study. I changed it to the plural form; it was composed in the singular form.
Oh Holy Spirit, beloved of our souls. We adore you. Enlighten us, guide us, strengthen us, console us. Tell us what to do, give us your orders. We promise to submit ourselves to all that you desire of us and to accept all that you permit to happen to us. Let us only do your will. Amen.
