Would You Like To Hear About My $2.74 Adventure With Holy Spirit Last Night 2/1/2019 After Work?

Yes, that is what I said. This adventure involved a $2.74 credit left on a gift card that I had been saving. I had slightly over $16.00 credit left on a gift card for a shoe store that I like to frequent. This particular shoe store is actually owned by Christian's and they play a great mix of Christian music when you go to these stores. I truly felt Holy Spirit nudge to go there after work yesterday. I was on a mission in search of a gray colored pair of boots. Not the easiest item to find mind you. So my first stop was actually to go to Tuesday Morning in search of more dessert plates of a certain pattern. Reason being, my mother loves hummingbirds and enjoys watching them when they come to feed in the back yard. Sometimes she sits on the screened patio and listens to her Croatian music and enjoys seeing the variety of birds that come to eat at the various bird houses set out in the yard. Even if not sitting on the patio she can still enjoy seeing the hummingbirds from the inside of the house by looking out the window. I enjoy observing them also, either at my home or when I visit. Definitely more hummingbird activity by my mom's then by my location. So when I see them being active I just love looking in amazement out my window. It seems like last year they came later than usual and there was not as much frequency in numbers so to speak as other years?
In the picture I shared of the strawberry cake if you notice the one plate was a black background with colorful flowers and hummingbirds in the pattern. I bought this style plates a few years ago for her birthday to serve cake on them and she liked them then. So, I was in search of finding more of them this year to gather for her 90th birthday celebration we will be having with family this Summer. Well, I hope you are not looking for this particular plate, for this past week I was also on a mission in search of these plates. Well, I think I bought all they had in this pattern at two different Tuesday Morning stores. The one store actually had a napkin that could match with the plates. Slightly off in the color of the hummingbird but I think they will do just fine. The thing about Tuesday Morning is you have to get the items you like when you are at the store because there really is no guarantee it will be there the next time you visit that store. This is also a great place where I find the embellishments that I use to dress up greeting cards I send to people.
I am enjoying planning my mother's birthday celebration. It will be a more intimate size celebration but I feel like I am planning a small wedding if that makes sense. I needed this shot in the arm to plan a celebration. It brings back fond memories of the days when I used to do event/wedding planning. My next visit will be to taste a few different styles of cakes and to visit the restaurant to see if they can do a personalized type of menu for our family. What would really be ideal would be a family style menu for us. Let's see what comes forth. My sibling is a great negotiator and let's see what we can come up with ok. Well, my mother is an excellent baker and a "foodie." She knows what she likes and we better get this birthday cake thing right. From what I understand a cassata cake she would like. Now, back home there were several Italian bakeries that make this cake and do a great job at it also. But I do not think whipped cream frosting and a custard filling with strawberries would survive a trip for this gathering for my mom. So we are in search of finding a cassata cake at a local bakery. I will keep you posted on this important matter ok.
Back to my story now. After visiting Tuesday Morning I then went to another shoe store on the way and found nothing. So I followed Holy Spirit on my journey to the Christian shoe store. I take my time when I go to this store for there are many shoes to look through. I start off glancing down the aisles at first. I then go back and start pulling shoes/boots and start trying them on. I was probably there more than an hour looking and trying on shoes/boots. I would have settled for gray shoes if I found them but not so. Holy Spirit knew my heart's desire for gray boots and low and behold I found them at the end of my search. For some reason I went down an aisle that really was not my size shoe and I was sitting on the bench trying on a pair of gray boots and then something caught my eye. Down the same aisle was a college aged young lady trying on a pair of beautiful black suede over the knee boots. For some reason they caught my attention and I shared with this young lady that that pair of boots really looked nice on her. We struck up a conversation and I asked her about my gray boots and I actually had the dress on that I was searching for the boots to match. I had on a black pair of suede boots but they tend to slide down when I wear them and it is not the clean look I was in search for. I wanted a pair of boots that stayed in place.
I know I see things a bit different than others see them. What I think is creative someone else may not think so. I bought the boots and I have them sitting right now next to that dress and I think they match so I will wear them with that dress. We are talking and I shared with her how I used to wear high heel when I was younger but now I look for style but comfort and not a high heel so as to have stability when walking. She liked two different styles of these black suede boots with a high heel on them. She showed me the choices and I told her the one I really liked and then she told me that the boots were on sale. I said are you sure about that, she was going to get both pairs of boots. She liked a certain designer and both pairs of boots were by the same designer. She had me go and look at the sale sign and sure enough they were 50% off. She told me while we were conversing of the outfit she was going to wear the boots with. So off to the counter to pay for them. She is ahead of me in line but discovers she didn't have the match to the one pair of boots and she had to go and retrieve it. She beckoned for me to go next in line. Sure enough my boots were on sale and I had a $2.74 credit left on the gift card. She came back and I handed her the gift card. I said there was $2.74 on it and that she should put it towards her purchase.
See, you never ever ever know who God has lined up for you to strike a conversation with when you go on His adventures. Follow His leading and His timing for that is key in all of this. I knew to go to Tuesday Morning first for the plates, then stopped at a shoe store in the area and just literally walked up the aisle and nothing was there so onto my next destination. It was truly God's timing in all of this. You may say to yourself what is the big deal about $2.74? Much greater than that, for I remember my college years and I also remember the kindness of others that blessed me with a blessing during those years. It is not about the money it is about encouraging another person. She is studying in college I thought she said inter disciplinary studies. I think that is what she told me don't quote me on that though. I remember discussing briefly that the school system really needs this now for children come to school and discipline is not really being addressed in the homes and what a tough job it is for the teachers to deal with this in school. Parents you need to take time and really train your children up with discipline in the home. How can you expect teachers to follow through during the school day if it is not cultivated at home to begin with. Parents put down your cellphones, electronic gizmo's and spend time with your children. Do not pacify them with giving them electronic devices to babysit them. Do parents even teach children manners nowadays anymore? Do parents teach their children how to do laundry and clean and cook? I don't know my children are grown up and I would like to think so. I must admit that when I visit my children and if I see things a bit out of sorts I just begin to dust or sweep off a patio or even run a vacuum. They don't ask me to do this so I have to sneak it in like when they are getting ready to go somewhere. I can do a lot in that period of time while they are getting ready. Sneaky huh. I even have used my steamer to steam a set of curtains while they were taking a shower. I guess I like things to look nice. I don't do this all the time but I have been known to do this. I think I even organized pots and pans once while visiting one of my children. I know I have to stick to boundaries but I just can't help myself as a mom I want to bless my children if that makes sense. Now I do honor their request if they ask me to not and I oblige them. I think you just cannot take the mom out of a mom no matter how old they are.
I am going to share a Holy Spirit recipe He gave to me months ago I think you just may like it. I shared it with my mom the other day and she tried it and said she liked it and would make it again. It is vey simple. When making scrambled eggs sauté in some butter pieces of chopped onion but add to that caraway seeds The sautéing brings out the full flavor of the caraway seeds and then I put a shake or two of cayenne or ground red pepper and it gives the eggs a good kick of flavor to them. I did not tell my mom Holy Spirit gave me the recipe when I first shared it. It was when she shared with me that the eggs were good that I told her to thank Holy Spirit for He is the one that gave me the idea to make eggs that way.
Wow, I think I covered a lot of territory with this blog entry do you agree.
Oh most important of all, I was up very early today praying in tongues for about 1 1/2 hours. Actually singing in tongues that is. Holy Spirit had me do a spiritual in faith exercise after a break in praying and then back to another 1/2 hour or so of praying in tongues before I got out of bed this day to write. I am running low on my flavored decaf coffee and it is so hard to find good flavored decaf coffee to brew anymore. I guess I will have to be placing an order with Paramount Coffee soon to replenish my decaf coffee selection. In the meantime I guess I will have to brew flavored regular coffee.
One more thought Holy Spirt keeps reminding me of this. When my children were young I would put them in the stroller and take them for walks. I would talk with them while we walked the neighborhood. It bothers me today when I see parents taking their children places and the children are in strollers and the parents are not conversing with their children but they are on their cell phones or checking emails etc.  I am telling you this that these children in this generation are growing up with a lack of communicating with others. Yes, they are great at electronics but what about good old fashioned carrying on a conversation with someone. Parents spend quality time with your young children. You only have them with you for a short season in their lives so take each opportunity you have now to share and interact with them. Take them on a walk in their stroller but leave behind any distractions so they can get your full attention. I understand if you need to have a phone with you but at least turn it off and turn on your attention to your children, you will be glad you did in the long run.
Aren't these pretty plates/napkins?
