I just cannot seem to let go of this subject. I was taught by one of the best when it comes to layering your fragrance. I was trained years ago as a Beauty Advisor working for Estee Lauder. I just love this concept and it sure does work. There is an art to wearing a fragrance. If you follow this instruction you will then not overpower others with wearing too much fragrance. I am sure you have experienced that in the past. When you can smell a persons fragrance well before they even come in contact with you.
Lets review this again ok. So, if you start out with using the scented soap or shower gel that is layer number one. Followed by either using the body lotion or body cream and then just a slight hint of the fragranced powder. The purpose of the powder is to seal in the moisturizer and in the instance of Estee Lauder's line of fragranced powders (at least how I remembered it back in the 90's) a beautiful glisten resting upon your skin because her scented powders had a glisten effect in them. Now I did not like the scent of "Spellbound" but if I recall correctly it had a beautiful gold tone glisten to that powder.
What happened Estee Lauder to your ancillary product line for Knowing"? Please consider bringing it back. Mrs. Lauder I think would be sad knowing her line of fragrances are dwindling do you agree? I still have some of her glistening powder in the line and a bit of body lotion. I do prefer the body cream over the lotion but will accept lotion if that is all there is to chose from. Please bring back to the consumer or at least to this consumer the ancillary products to go with Knowing. Someone listened to my plea and formulated a foundation that did not have that yucky scent like the other foundations in the line (to me the scent always smelled like the foundation was rancid). I am quite pleased with the new foundation, "Futurist Hydra Rescue." I am so pleased with this new foundation that I actually find myself not having to use face powder at times when wearing this lovely scented foundation. Thank you.
Back to Knowing now if I may. Remember when Estee Lauder had the holiday collection of scented solid perfumes? I do. My favorite one was the scotty dog compact that housed Knowing solid perfume. I was taught back then that you apply the solid fragrance to the pulse point areas of your body for the fragrance to emit its fragrant scent. I would put a little dab of it behind my ears, on the back of my wrists and behind my knees. See, this Beauty Advisor/Consultant did try to listen when being instructed. Why can't you promote a special edition of these products. It would be great to dig into the past and rejuvenate this line, just a suggestion.
I think I shared with you before how years ago Mrs.Lauder honored the beauty advisors and each day in one week we would receive a gift from Estee Lauder. This really touched my heart and I knew I needed to send her a heartfelt thank you note. At the time there was a nice stationary store at an exclusive lets say mini type of mall. I would go there to pick out top of the line in quality that is stationary or note cards. I still think that writing a personal note card is being lost somewhere. Do you agree. I know it takes probably the same amount of time to compose a letter via a computer or hand writing it. Well, maybe not so. At least in my case, I have to be mindful as I am writing a note card so as to not mess up in cursive placing the words on paper. You see there is no spellcheck mechanism when writing a hand written note card. I also have to be mindful to take my time so one can read what I am writing. What do I mean? I can tend to jot down something in a quick moment and then I have to look at it myself to even be able to understand what I wrote. You know, sort of like when you sign your name a lot. You just do it. I can sign my name in a quick manner and it is not so pretty looking and as legible as when I take my time to write out my name. Scribble versus beautiful I guess. In my opinion you should be mindful to write your name in a legible manner when signing important documents or legal papers do you agree?
Back to my story now. In following through with my heart tugging at me I sent the letter. I received to my pleasant surprise a personal note back from her. I treasure this note and still have it. It was on her personal monogrammed stationary. She really was the height of elegance if I may say so. I may still even have the engraved Cross pen we each received one day also during that Beauty Advisor Week celebration. I am going somewhere with this line of thought. Do not ever let your heart become ungrateful ok. Sometimes it is the little things and kind gestures that tend to mean the most to the person who is the receiver of them. Years ago we were a generation that I think had much more grateful hearts because things were a bit more simple and when you received something of value you tended to treasure it a bit more. Today we have almost whatever we want at our fingertips and all you have to do is order it and it is shipped to you. I like the ways of modern life don't get me wrong but I also like the more simple ways of life too. There is just something about going to a store and actually being able to see the item and touch the quality of the material that was used to create that item of clothing do you agree. Let alone, being able to try it on to see if it fits just right,
Please do not let your heart become hardened to the simple things in life like sharing and also receiving a smile from someone. The gentle touch of a hand reaching out to say that they care. The hug given to one that is in crisis. A note or card sent in the mail to lift someone up. A caring text message sent. A kind gesture to let one know that you are thinking of them. Baking or preparing a meal to take to someone just because you care. No reason at all other than you care for them. Why is it in this busy world of ours that I find people tend to do this less and less unless there is a crisis that may arise and then you see everyone just about reaching out a hand to help? This should be a part of your daily life do you agree with me.
We are having a pasta bake off tonight at church. I felt led to make these great tasting meatballs in sauce with melted cheese on top. I know it is not "pasta" but hey meatballs go right along with pasta right? They are a bit spicy though because you add crushed red pepper flake and minced garlic too to the meatball mixture. Thank you Publix, I picked up this recipe when they were sampling it a while back. I made homemade pie crust and froze 2 disks of it in the freezer. I pulled one out yesterday and also made a French Silk pie to take along with me too. I am not the best when it comes to making a fancy looking pie crust so I improvised. I used the fork tines to make my crust design. That is simple you just go around the pie crust and press the fork tines into it to make the design. I guess I have to work on making pie crusts more often. I have one more pie crust dough thawed out. Maybe I will make another pie for my neighbors to enjoy this weekend and then I can practice my pie crust method at the same time
Whatever the case may be, take time to celebrate another persons life today. Did you hear what I said? You have to take time out of your day to make the time and then take the time to celebrate the life of another. I am reminded in scripture of this thought 1 John 2:10: "Those who love other believers live in the light. Nothing will destroy the faith of those who live in the light." I think that sums it up pretty well.
