I attempted to complete this project yesterday. When in doubt always follow the leading of the Holy Spirit. I actually drove to the local stadium yesterday to walk/take the pictures you see posted today. I decided that I just did not want to do that yesterday and I would do it today instead. WRONG. I woke up not feeling well today and I still knew that I needed to go and take pictures. Yesterday's weather was much more conducive to today's project. I found myself trudging through a snow storm at the stadium to capture the pictures to go along with what I am writing about.
My subject today will be on: Have You Left Your Mark In The Community In Which You Live In? I can say yes to that statement. For as long as I can remember I have exercised at the local stadium/track. I was always most grateful that it was there for the community to use. I feel that I gave back to the community in a few different ways in which they were all related to the sports complex in which I was blessed to be able to use. The first picture reflects a "V" shaped figure. It is actually a planter and when it was first made I volunteered to water the plants. I did.
The second picture is the bell that is located at the end of the football field. I once worked for a family in which one of the owners actually donated this bell to the stadium. This was such a dear older gentleman and we all referred to him as Grandpa. When he died I would walk at the track and noticed that it sure could use some paint that the old paint was peeling. I know this man did things with excellence and was proud of his establishment that he owned in town. I wanted to bless not only his family but also the children that played sports at the stadium. I asked the maintenance team that cares for the stadium if I would be allowed to paint the bell and the frame that holds it up. They supplied the paint, etc. and that is just what I did. I believe they ring this very bell at the football games.
One of my first projects was that I painted the old wooden benches the team use to sit on during the football games. The paint was peeled and I wanted it to look nice for the children when they had football games. They have since been replaced with steel benches.
My next project was the one that I think will bring the most glory to God. They had a fundraiser in which you could purchase a brick and have it engraved as a marker. I purchased two at the time. One was for our family and the other was engraved with these words, "To God Be The Glory." This is where the lesson on obedience comes into play. If I would have just done this yesterday you would have actually been able to see the brick with those words engraved on it. Since I waited until today I had to actually clear off a couple of inches of snow from the entire area with my feet being used as the broom so to speak. Even with that I could not find it with the snow that kept coming down. Trust me it really is there. One day when the saints are in heaven because Jesus came to get his people there will be people left behind for the tribulation period on the earth. This marker is already in place to hopefully be a word of encouragement for those seeking it. Along with mine there was another one by a local priest and below his name are the words "God Bless."
As I walked across the football field I was reminded of the time when a group that I participated in known as Moms In Touch International actually met in the middle of the football field at the stadium at the beginning of a school year and we had communion right there on the football field. We were bold back then and had a heart for the children that attended school within the city and we also prayed for the children that lived in the city but attended private schools outside of the city limits. Please pray for the children and the school administration/teachers within the community in which you live in. If you are a mom or an aunt or a grandmother of someone that attends school within your community you should get a chapter of Moms In Touch International started. We saw many wonderful prayers answered as we gathered faithfully each week during the school year. If there is a local chapter already in existence within your community I highly encourage you to get involved. Remember this thought, today's children are tomorrows leaders. There many be a child that does not have a mother or father that will or knows how to pray for them on their behalf. Why don't you step up to the plate and pray for them. You just may be praying for the next president of the USA or better yet a preacher/evangelist/prophet/teacher/apostle that will win the world to Jesus Christ.
The lesson in all of this is do what the Holy Spirit prompts you to do when He leads you to do it. OK. I thought you may be interested in knowing that I do not think I ever attended a football game at this stadium. Both of my children attended private high schools outside of the city. I did these acts of kindness in gratitude for the opportunity to use this facility throughout the years. My main reason was that I wanted the children that played sports to be able to be proud of their school when visiting teams came to our stadium. I am most thankful that they allowed me to participate in the way that I was able to make a contribution.
There is still one more project that I have not seen completed yet. When I walk there it is quite obvious that the football field is not flat and it has mounds that you can see. I believe that the safety of the children should be the main priority. I have inquired on several occasions as to when they will flatten the field out so it will be safe for all children that participate on that field. I have seen nothing happen yet. Maybe that will be on the agenda in the future.
Again, I apologize for not writing/publishing this yesterday.
