I recently had to cancel an Airbnb reservation due to covid 19 concerns. When you select this option it does states they have to send a message to the hosts for their approval to give a full refund back in regard to this concern. It states that using this option is not a cancellation. The host has 24 hours to respond to Airbnb if they accept it or not. Please note it does not cancel your reservation.
So I contact the host and let them know I selected the covid 19 option and they were suppose to receive a message (it did state they have 24 hours to respond.) They told me they did not receive a message and it showed the reservation was not cancelled. Later in the day I spoke with one of the hosts and they walked me through the cancellation process. Really none of the options pertained to why I was cancelling. I asked should I select this option and was advised to not select that particular one because someone would have to review it and it could take time for that option if selected. Airbnb maybe you should add a link when you click on an option that states exactly what it means to select that option.
Please remove the covid 19 option because it really is not a valid reservation cancellation option, granted it does state that selecting that option is not a cancellation. Remove confusion. I will say I did lose money with cancelling when I did but that is ok with me. The couple that are the hosts are Christians and I look at it like a blessing seed that was planted into their lives. I did also receive a slight monetary credit to my account that can be used at a future reservation. All is well and I prayed with one of the hosts that they will have a blessing season to make up for the loss during this covid 19 stuff. By the way, the money used to secure this reservation was compliments of the stimulus money given to US citizens, even the Lord can use the government to bless another. Praise God.
