Oh my goodness is all I can say and a bit in shock to recently find out GWP is now up to a 45.00 purchase to qualify for the gift. I went to both Dillard's & Belk's and both retailers confirmed the minimum amount of purchase to qualify for the gift. It is a matter of principle with this former Estee Lauder Beauty Advisor. Mrs. Lauder, if I am not mistaken was the first woman with vision to offer the free gift with purchase years ago and it has come to this now? It seems like everyone has since that time offered gifts with purchase and I remember the days when working at the counter there was none of that pre-sale (except it was starting to come into play the later portion of my career with them) and people lined up in the retail stores and waited in line to make their purchase to receive their free gwp. Those days are definitely a gone by era.
There was a certain color of lipstick I was searching for recently that was actually an item in a gwp years ago but you stopped seeing it in gifts. I thought maybe it was a discontinued color/item. Well, I found out the color was still in existence but now in an updated formulation. Like 40.00 for 1 tube of this lipstick. I was willing to pay 40.00, to I thought cover the purchase cost of the gwp the last time I checked with a 39.50 purchase. That apparently jumped to now 45.00 minimum purchase to qualify. So, spend 40.00 on a tube of lipstick and you all know savvy shoppers there is nothing in their line of cosmetics to purchase for 5.00 to equal the minimum purchase needed to receive the free gift. That has always been the ploy even when gifts were required for a much reasonable cost. The price point was just a little bit more, so the customer had to purchase more items to meet the qualify minimum purchase to receive the gift. It worked but now it is getting ridiculous today and in my opinion is overreach. Bring back the at least 29.50 purchase amount to receive the free gift is my suggestion. Who am I? Just a savvy type of shopper that does not like to blatantly be ripped off is how the saying goes.
I began to research and found some of the reviews were not looking too favorable for this color lipstick in the updated formulation. I then began my search quest to see if there were any out there with the formulation I became acquainted with and found a lipstick style set witch had a really cute pouch to house your lipstick, lip liner (the seller actually put in a 2nd lip liner same color @ no additional charge), lip scrub and 2 other lip glosses I think that was about it. No more did I pay then just under 30.00 for all of it. I found out the seller was a Christian. I had a hint just by the name when you actually made the purchase online. Sure enough, tucked in with the purchase was a small scripture business type sized card.
See, Estee Lauder Cosmetics, maybe quit ripping loyal customers off and they just may return to the cosmetic counter at a retail store again. Or if you are going the route you chose to partake in then maybe you should be offering gold as one of the gifts instead of basic items you give freely to the customer with the hefty purchase price minimum you require of them. I did it again, speaking my thoughts out loud.
Here is the scripture verse card tucked inside the pouch with the order I placed. May you find comfort in this scripture verse also. Do you think that just maybe I was led to make this purchase with this very person just to bless you today with scripture encouragement. You know, God does work in mysterious ways does He not.
