I Was Walking The Other Day & Stumbled Upon This Video.

When I was walking the other day I felt Holy Spirit direction to pull up The Battle Hymn of the Republic and listen while walking the trail. Something caught my attention and I listened to it. There is an explanation of how the words were penned by the lady that wrote them. Her great, great, great grandson shares the story. Julia Ward Howe must have been a journaler way back when. She woke from sleep and wrote down the words she saw/heard @ 4:00AM @ The Willard Hotel. Praise God for journaler's everywhere and in every era right. Hey lets take this back to the bible what about the scribes? We wouldn't have the 10 commandments if Moses did not write them down on a tablet. Imagine that project? We have so many modern tech things at our fingertips today that we could not even conceive of the love and hard work it took to write down the 10 commandments on tablets. Wow when you think of it like that. History and God's word that is still active and alive today.

Do not complain if you missed an opportunity and had a dream or words spoken to you by Holy Spirit and you chose to not write them down. The words He speaks to our hearts today are no less important then when words were given to the saints & prophets of old if that makes sense. God never stopped speaking to His people throughout the ages. The question I propose is Did the people choose throughout the ages to take the time to slow down and hear Him speaking and then respond to what He was asking of you to do?

My son arrived yesterday afternoon and I already had dinner prepared so all I had to do was cook the linguini pasta and mix the salad. We tend to prefer the home made vinegar & oil salad dressing. You know a little garlic salt and pepper sprinkled on the salad and then I do not know measurements so I just pour a little oil on first then I do use either red wine, white wine or apple cider vinegar and then toss the salad. We went on a walk before dinner. I took him to the historic walking trail and I shared what I knew about the Battle Hymn of the Republic. I also shared how I thought Indians probably were in the woods years ago. He of course corrected me when I would use the term Indians and he said mom you have to call them Native Americans (the politically correct term.) I tend to watch those old time western movies lately and they referred to them as Indians or they may say something like Cherokee, etc. Sometimes I think we get all hung up on this politically correct stuff.

I do not get this one at all, African Americans. Did every single person originate from Africa? I would venture to say no to that question. I am white and I have no problem with being referred to as white or Caucasian. One of my friends and I had a discussion a few years back in regard to this very subject. In brain storming we though  we would have tee shirts made up with things like I am Irish American; I am Croatian American. So, how would you handle printing a tee shirt if your family tree had multiple countries as your lineage? You cannot put a generic label on your family blood line can you? No, that is absurd so why settle for a title of African American when you may have many beautiful blends in your family tree. I always thought I was 100% Croatian for the majority of my life until I had DNA testing done and that is where it was revealed to me of the beautiful Jewish blood that flows through my family tree. That knowledge was a huge blessing for me when I discovered that Praise God.

After walking we tried to find the battlefield cemetery for me to show him so many people are buried there from this Civil War battle that was fought from Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York etc. As we were driving I thought how their families probably did not get to visit their loved ones at the grave site because think of this ... if it is a sort of long drive to take in a car imagine the trip it would have taken time wise to travel here by horse or even wagon? More than likely those soldiers that were not from TN had no family to pay their last respects when they were buried. I also shared with my son how I walk and pray and get insights while walking this trail. I shared a prophetic act Holy Spirit had me do once while walking the trail. I have also broke off curses that may have lingered from the war and even our unfair treatment of Indians way back when. I tend to think deep and abstract thoughts at times when I walk. That is how I was created.

My son drove me to complete an errand I had and then off to the shoe store. This child is truly like his mother in the respect of shopping. He knows name brands/quality and a great sale point. He went his way and I went mine in the shoe store, the search was on. I go to this particular shoe store off and on again. Usually I do not find anything there that I tend to like or if I do they do not have my width shoe size. Eureka, there is a certain brand of boots I tend to like and they had my size. I do tend to like purchasing fashion boots. I already have a navy blue faux suede over the knee pair of boots (more for dress then casual) but I found a beautiful pair of navy blue suede boots for casual wear. When I tend to go to this store with my son I find things usually. He said it is good timing when we shop and we left it at that. He found a pair of Cole Haan shoes for work then he said to me the other pair of shoes were about $100.00 a pair for just sneakers and he found a pair of that same brand shoes for only $30.00. In all fairness both of our children tend to get their tech savvy ways from their father and his love of purchasing tech type of gadgets etc. I would say both children are pretty well rounded with traits from both of their parents.

This is kind of funny. When the children were younger I always insisted that we ate dinner at the dining room table. On rare occasions they would ask if we could eat dinner in the living room and I would say ok and we did. So last night he asked if we could eat in the living room, he promised he would not spill anything and I said ok. We both watched Rick Steves on PBS together. You know I don't have cable anymore so he found him on Roku and we added him to my favorites list as we enjoyed watching his travel to Scotland, Romania and Italy too. We wanted to watch an episode on Croatia and Dalmatia but you had to be a passport member of PBS. I told him I will not join at that level even though it is not expensive on a monthly basis because their news broadcasts are definitely biased. It is very evident the slant they have and who they tend to like in the political arena. I will just leave it at that.

Today we are off to see the Chihuly exhibit and dinner out somewhere. I really do enjoy preparing meals for others and I tend to feel a bit more needed when I get to bake and cook for others. When sitting on the patio the other day I was talking with neighbors and they told me how good the dessert was that I left them the other day. They said it was ok for me to leave them baked goods and if I made something meal wise it was ok to also leave them that too. Isn't it funny that no matter where I tend to move Holy Spirit always finds me nice neighbors and neighbors that allow me to bake for them. I just love that.

I find this very interesting. This video was created a few months before I actually moved to this state where I would eventually find the walking trail. You cannot convince me otherwise that God does not have perfect timing. There must be some sort of significance to this song because I hear it playing quite often when I wake up. Maybe there is a spiritual aspect to this song as the words resound when I wake at times. Most prevalent are the words I hear, "Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord." Or "Glory glory hallelujah glory glory hallelujah. Glory glory hallelujah His truth is marching on." I told you I tend to think deep/abstract at times.

The Story behind "The Battle Hymn of the Republic"

Please note that in my research I found that this was a favorite song of both the Union & Confederate soldiers. How could it not be when it was a God given song?
