I was up @ 4:00AM today and after talking with Holy Spirit He had me go on a search in my bible. I had 2 prophetic encounters the previous day. I woke to an image in my mind. It was so real I thought to myself I wonder why that person posted that picture on their media site. It was not posted on their media site but it was so real what I saw that I actually checked to make sure. I then had a prophetic dream that same morning. In my talking with Holy Spirit I asked Him to explain the image I saw first and then we talked about the dream. For some reason He wanted me to search through my bible to find a scripture reading in which it was dated for 2/1 in my bible. See, I did read through my bible a couple of times throughout the years so I knew I had dates in the year 2013. I must have also gone into the year 2014 because that is where I found what I am sharing today. Next to 1 Samuel 17 is the date 2/1/14. What a great story to read today "David and Goliath."
As I am reading this in bed I find myself even chuckling at points. Oh he probably had his hands full with the brothers he had to contend with. Then what about him showing up to the battle field because his father told him to take bread and cheese to them. Tell me that is not child like faith in motion. How many of you out there would get up and take nourishment to your brothers fighting in a battle @ a battle field? Those brothers really did not know how to handle their little brother did they. David's oldest brother Eliab got angry when he saw David talking with the men. See, when you have a calling on your life you are not afraid to talk to anyone God places before you. I look at it like this if He sends me He provides for me. That includes words to speak forth too. In moments like this I have found that I visualize from my heart where Jesus resides to my mind then to my mouth for the words to come forth. I step aside and let Him speak through me. It is quite a simple concept because Holy Spirit knows I like simple concepts and not some long and calculated concept. Why? In a split moment I do not have time to analyze a complex concept but a simple one works just fine for me in those times. It is like his older brother is scolding David "Why did you come here, he asked him, and with whom did you leave those few sheep in the wilderness? I know how overconfident and headstrong you are. You came here just to see the battle." That was verse 28.
Then David has to defend himself to him in 29 his response "What have I done now? David snapped at him. Didn't I merely ask a question? He turned to face another man and asked the same question, and the other soldiers gave him the same answer." It was that conversation that one overheard and went to Saul and told him about it. Saul sent for him and has a conversation with him line 33 "Saul responded to David, You can't fight this Philistine, You're just a boy, but he's been a warrior since he was your age." Did you catch that, he is just a boy. To me that just screams boy/child doesn't it to you? Child like faith now growing to the next step in this story. When questioned Holy Spirit provides the very words/prior experiences to speak forth. When speaking them forth he is now declaring what he has already done in successful battles and as he is rehearsing these very words he is reminded of God's faithfulness in the past and so He will do it again for him that very day. Yes He will. Are you struggling with something today? Just rehearse the past wins with Jesus and that will stoke the fire within you to advance today. Not tomorrow or next week but TODAY ok.
They dress him in Saul's armor but it is too wobbly so to speak for him to get around in and maneuver in it. Don't fall to the tactics of what did work for another just be you and step out in what works for you. You know what does and does not work when you minister so do not try to step in another's manner of fighting the battle when the battle is the Lord's and He calls you forth in your very own style/anointing ok.
Now we see Goliath getting a bit disturbed. Verse 41 "The Philistine, preceded by the man carrying his shield, was coming closer and closer to David. When the Philistine got a good look at David, he despised him. After all, David was a young man with a healthy complexion and good looks." The 10 foot giant is now getting a bit rattled by the presence of David. Is it not interesting that this big man had to get closer and closer to actually see David. If you flow in the prophetic it is the complete opposite. Being compared to an eagle we have great vision/insight from far off distance don't we.
Goliath thinks he has this battle already won and he even calls upon his gods to curse David. Guess what? He called upon his (plural) gods and David is there because of our one true God and he knows He will defend him in this battle. Verse 45 " David told the Philistine, You have come to me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of Armies, the God of the army of Israel, whom you have insulted. Today the Lord will hand you over to me. I will strike you down and cut off your head. And this day I will give the dead bodies of the Philistine army to the birds and the wild animals. The whole world will know Israel has a God. Then everyone gathered here will know that the Lord can save without sword or spear, because the Lord determines every battle's outcome. He will hand all of you over to us."
Hey it looks like David is speaking forth a prophecy. Did you catch it? "The whole world will know that Israel has a God." Well, with modern day electronics and technology it is possible for the whole world to read this very scripture verse and know God will continue to defend Israel. As we move on in this story notice verse 48 "When the Philistine moved closer in order to attack, David quickly ran toward the opposing battle line to attack the Philistine." He did not back up but he ran into the battle he knew God would back him up in this battle because it was a battle to be won by the Lord of Armies, the God of the army of Israel.
This is interesting to me because when you are under the anointing the strength given to you causes you to do amazing things for God. Let's review in verse 4-7 a description of Goliath and what he was wearing. " He was 10 feet tall . He had a bronze helmet on his head, and he wore a bronze coat of armor scales weighing 125 pound. On his legs he had bronze shin guards and on his back a bronze javelin. The shaft of his spear was like the beam used by weavers. The head of his spear was made of 15 pounds of iron." That sounds like a lot of heavy armor and with his size I am convinced the size of his sword was not small what do you think. So here comes David and he has the strength to attain his sword, then lift up his sword and then strike at the right angle to cut off his head. I told you there is strength received while the anointing rests upon you to do the work of the Lord.
I find this very interesting also. In the beginning Saul refers to David as a boy but after this defeat he now refers to him as a young man. Verse 55 "As Saul watched David going out against the Philistine, he asked Abner, the commander of the army, Abner, whose son is this young man?" David had to still be under the anointing when he carried back the cut off head of Goliath I am guessing. Can you imagine the weight in the head of a person that is 10 feet tall?
This is an example of a Holy Spirit journey I went on without ever leaving my home today. This journey was already on God's mind way back when I read and notated the date in my bible 2/1/14. I love these missions/journeys, I really do.
I finished and passed the test for the Lean Six Sigma Green Belt. I already passed the test for the first level in this program of Yellow Belt. Next step is to be a member of a team working on a project. Once that is done I will then be certified. There is one more step after that and it is black belt. I just do not know if I want to take it that far. They tell me that level is a bunch of numbers and calculations and details like that. I am more of the thinker/doer personality more so than a numbers person. I have to ponder on this a bit more but I am most thankful that this opportunity has been presented to me.
