See, God has a plan and a purpose for your very life. I know He has for me. This is how it works in my life. I can be reading a book and while reading it something catches my attention. When that happens I tend to pay attention to that because more than likely I will be called upon to possibly step out in faith in like manner or some variation of it. When I was reading "Angelic Encounters" by James W. & Michal Ann Goll, it was that type of moment while reading pages 19, 20 & top portion of page 21. That truly intrigued me and caught my attention. See, you are used to me maybe taking a picture of what I am speaking about or typing it out for you. Not today for there comes a time when you have to step out in faith and do a little bit of leg work yourself so to speak. If everything is handed to you and you do not have to do a little bit of searching yourself then I am not really helping you to step out in faith in your very life.
I feel led by Holy Spirit for you to possibly get the book and read the entire book for yourself. You just may find gold nugget insights tucked away in the pages of this book waiting to be discovered by you.
At church Sunday morning I took notes. At church something struck a heart string with me. "Zacchaeus' (Luke 19) curiosity was greater than his caution. You will only find what you seek with abandonment. I want the Lord more than I want my reputation, it takes humility. Availability places you in the next move of God." Now, you may not understand my notes but I sure do. You need to be available when He beckons you and calls you forth. You may think or better yet, others may think what you are doing may be silly. I do not really care what others think when I am on a mission with Holy Spirit guiding me. I step out in faith and He always guides me.
So, there was a pretty hard rain the night before and I just knew I had to go see if the river was really babbling loud by the brook portion. Well, well, well, it rained so hard that the river was a pretty high water level and the brook section was now filled too much. It did not make the babbling sound. I was intrigued by that. As I was heading towards the brook section Holy Spirit brought to my remembrance the pages I read in the book. I did not have the pages memorized or anything like that I just had the generalization of the story in me to pull from. He shows me taking a twig and tossing it into the river and declaring the water is sweet. On my way to the brook area I noticed two twigs on the path. See, in my mind I am already starting to work this prophetic act. Heading back I find the first twig and Holy Spirit shows me where to toss it into the river. I pick up the twig and throw it. Guess where that one landed? In a branch of a tree. See, when I was younger and played softball they always referred to me as throwing a softball like a girl. Hello, what am I a girl so that never really did bother me. Now, my sister she had the power arm when throwing a softball. This is true. I would be positioned in the outfield and I would watch things like the frogs hopping by and hoping to myself that a ball would not come in my direction. In case I did not catch it while in the air heading towards me or the ball would hit me. I survived those softball days I really did.
So I keep on walking and come upon the second twig with another area to take it to. I knew this area would position me for it to land in the water. I had the twig in my hand and when I released it into the water I spoke forth that the Lord would make the water sweet. I then went on and finished my walk. I really do not know what is to be the outcome from that prophetic act but Holy Spirit sure does. I trust Him and I leave it at that ok.
Did I ever tell you about a job I once had in which I interviewed executives via the telephone. Yes I did. It never bothered me interviewing them via the telephone. The challenging part of this position was you had to get to the actual executive and then have them agree to take the interview with me. I was pretty good at that because I can make people feel at ease when they speak with me. Oh another thing, I was honest and sincere and they could feel that sincerity even over the phone. I would set goals for me to break of my own records. I kept a tally of the number of interviews completed daily. There was one point when I just could not get past a certain amount until the day...I broke my own goal amount and then it seemed to not be such a challenge anymore to get past the roadblock number completed. I like to set little goals inside of me so I can keep on track. I would figure out how many I had to complete by lets say noon. I then knew that the rest of the day was smooth sailing so to speak because I just knew what I had to do and get it done. These were high level executives I interviewed.
I also worked for an organization at one time in which I had to go to designated addresses and could only speak with a certain person in that household for this particular project. So you had to get them to agree to sit down with you and go through a 1-1 1/2 hour computer generated survey. I liked working on that project because the results were often used in creating laws or the statistics gathered may be included in text books you may have read in college. I met really nice people in both jobs. The truth in this is that people can truly sense if you are sincere and honest either via telephone or in person.
Do you know what my first job was after graduating from college? I was a Public Relations Associate. My account was a non profit local hospital. I actually wrote their monthly employee magazine publication. If I recall correctly they always featured a Dr.; we interviewed a volunteer, etc. This is kind of funny when I think of it now. I loved the interviewing portion but did not like so much the writing aspect of it. Thank God there was the owner that was also the overseer and everything had to be reviewed by the owner before it was ever submitted. I participated in the layout of the magazine. I coordinated events with the hospital photographer. They would take the pictures for events the hospital had or even photographs of the featured individuals being highlighted that month. I may even still have a copy of one of those publications. The highlight of that job was when they opened up a new surgical wing of the hospital. They conducted tours for the general public to view the new wing. I viewed it too. I think I even had to create and send out the press releases also. I do believe my favorite interviews were probably when I interviewed the volunteers.
Wow, do not know why I just went down that trail but I did.
