God always has a plan and a purpose. The question I present to you today is are you willing to follow His gentle nudges? I am most thankful that I did a few weeks ago. I attended a memorial service celebration for a relative of mine. I knew I would be seeing some of my Ohio family there so I put together a little care package for my godmother and a cousin also. I do not remember what I actually wrote in the cards to them both but I know Holy Spirit always inspires my notes when I write them to people so they were timely words spoken in the moment of writing them. My cousin delivered them to the recipients and I am so glad she did this kind act for me.
Do you know that I have a dear college friend that lives in Ohio and not too far away from the assisted living facility where 2 family members lived? One day she was so gracious and went on a mission to get a few Corbo's cookies and deliver them to my relatives at this facility. It is quite funny now when I look back on this...….at the time there was sickness in the facility so the residents were quarantined and my friend drops off cookies for them at the front desk. They thought I was in town and delivered them but I think it was my mom that told them my friend dropped them off for me. Kindness is what the world needs now. Not condemnation and finger pointing to each other but plain old fashioned KINDNESS. I was stirred to get my godmother and my mom's first cousin who is in her 90's now a pecan log and a divinity candy from Cracker Barrel. I then sent them back home with my cousin for them. My godmother was not quite 90 yet when she went to be with Jesus.
My mother reminded me of the kindness of my godmother, her cousin-in-law showed to her when she moved out of state. She would call her and they would talk on the phone as my mother was adjusting to her new surroundings. See, back then when godparents were selected for your children it was someone usually close connected to the family or a family member. In my case my godfather was my mother's first cousin and his wife was my godmother. They were the kindest and most sweet godparents a child could be blessed with. Do you know they always remembered me at Christmas. I would look forward to the gifts they would bless me with for she had such great taste in clothing.
My godfather has been deceased for several years now but I felt a few years ago to connect with my godmother and I would send her care packages in the mail. Knowing me I also included heartfelt notes to go with the treats. Yes I did. When you receive kindness in your life you just do not seem to forget it. One day Holy Spirit may move upon your heart to send the kindness back to the very source from which it originated.
Be tender and have a heart to respond to Holy Spirit nudges for they are not always about you and your experience but about a selfless act of kindness to bless another.
Remember how I mentioned that you tend to remember when kindness was shared with you? My mother in the last few years then turned the very kindness shown to her by my godmother calling her when she was adjusting to her new surroundings. It was now my mother calling her friend to encourage her when she moved into an assisted living facility. It is true when you hear the phrase "kindness starts at home." I saw this all of my life so how could I not follow in the foot steps my mother showed us how to live. Kindness is definitely the word for today ok.
Guess what happened with my blue topaz ring exchange? Well, they sent me a replacement ring that was definitely not sized correctly. The gemstone was not as pretty/intense in color either as the last ring. I am retuning it but listen to the good news in this story. When I purchased the ring at the time it came with a gift with purchase, blue topaz pear shaped earrings. I like the earrings so I inquired about being able to purchase at least the earrings since I was sending back the ring. I was so happy to hear this...I was told that I get to keep the earrings and there is no charge to keep them and not to send them back with the ring. The policy is that they were a gift so a gift they remain to me. Isn't that amazing. I know when I would buy something (from past experience and also from working @ Estee Lauder) and return it if it was not right or I did not like it. If it was gift time at the counter you then had to also bring back the free gift with purchase if you returned the items that you bought.
This jewelry vendor really gets customer service. Do you know that they are even waiving the return shipping fee for me since the ring did not fit me. Amazing that there are still vendors out there that get the whole concept of great customer service. Do you know of any vendors that treat you the same way as this? I sure do hope you do.
What do you think about this thought? When I was asked to pray for my godmother that there would be peace when she died I did pray. My mother and sister also prayed the same thing. She died in peace from what was told to my mom. So as I am praying and this thought comes to me. I ask Holy Spirit if He could place a gift from me as a welcome gift to my godmother when she arrives in heaven. I do not know if this is a biblical thing I just know Holy Spirit inspiration came upon me to ask this of Him. I did, I placed my request to have a gift from me to her when she arrived in heaven. I also requested another thing since I was asking, just ask and I did. Now both of my godparents are in heaven and I was shown something years ago about heaven. I cannot go into detail now but there is a special hallway in heaven in which pictures/portraits are displayed in this hallway. I asked Holy Spirit to please show my godparents this hallway. They will know the significance in this act. I placed my request.
