We went on a horse drawn wagon Amish tour. They actually stop at a few Amish farms and you can purchase items. What is fun about this tour is that you meet other families that are also taking the tour. It is fun to watch as the children come back on the wagon with their little trinkets or sling shots or even cookies and snacks as they are happy with their new findings. I was not adventurous today. One couple offered me to try a pickled hot okra. I declined, you see I never tried or ate okra before and I did not want to waste one in the event I did not like it. This same family drank freshly made tomato juice also. Peanut brittle seemed to be a popular item that people also purchased along with baked goods.
Michigan apples for 0.75 cents a pound when was the last time you saw that price? Yes I did purchase apples. I was thinking great for making homemade apple sauce possibly. When you are on a tour like this you just ask questions and the driver supplies the answers to your questions. We also struck up a conversation with a person that has been on this tour several times before and they told us of a place to visit in our car after the tour. We marked it on a map and that is what we did. We were is search of the Bishop's farm for that is where his wife had a bakery. It was more than that there was also canned green beans, etc. Homemade candy, bread/rolls, cakes/cookies, butter, vegetables and gourds too. I did buy farm fresh brown eggs a dozen for $2.00 such a deal, three peppers that had tinges of red mixed with the green pepper and 2 fresh sweet potatoes grown local. We went past a cowboy church. At the Bishops farm there was also a saddle shop and when we went in there the inviting scent of leather was prevalent and the hand crafted saddles for riding horses were beautiful in design. I did ask the Bishop a few questions about what he does if it is not his Sunday to preach. He said he attends the other church and I asked if he ever gets to preach there and he said he attends and does not conduct the service when it is not his service. See, we learned on the tour that they rotate church services in the community every other Sunday they have a service and then on the off Sundays they visit the sick. That is why I asked that question and he said he would be attending the other church service in the area.
This was the place that I saw two adorable Amish children and I asked their grandmother if it was ok to give them each a $2.00 bill. I explained to them how my children where about their ages their Nana would bless them with "treat" money in the form of a $2.00 bill. I thought I was done for my mission today until....on the tour a woman told us about her favorite place to go to get essential oils. I put it on our map and we were in search for this last stop. We had to search and turn around a time or two but we pulled in and a middle school aged young lady told us when we inquired that this was the place for the essential oils. She and her brother were most kind to us and helped us out in selecting a scent. I ended up purchasing 100% pure grapefruit essential oil. My friends were looking at other things and this young child showed me a part of the store that they sold medicinal type of items. She then began to share with me that she had a lung condition and showed me items that they were still testing to see if they would help her. I think she told me one item she would have to take 37 drops of it daily and another item I believe she told me she would have to take many tablets a day. I think I was shocked when she shared that with me. She did not start taking any of this yet. My heart went out to this child and I wished I did not give away those two $2.00 bills and I would have given them to her and her brother. Wait the story get better the gift they were given was far greater then treats.
She shared that people do give them treats and she told me about it. I felt Holy Spirit welling up inside of me and I began to share about the anointing oil that was coming forth from a bible in Dalton, GA and that I had some with me. I asked her if she would like me to pray with her for her lung condition to be healed but I told her she needed to ask her father if it was ok for me to pray with her with the oil. I let her and her brother smell that this anointing oil had no scent to it at all and then I let them smell my other bottle of Oil Of Gladness anointing oil that was scented. Her little brother liked the smell of that one. I explained to her father about the anointing oil and if it was permissible to pray for his daughter. He said yes. I placed some of the anointing oil on my finger and I placed a sign of the cross on her forehead and I let Holy Spirit pray through me. I asked her father if I could give her a hug and he said they do not hug but a handshake was fine. I then extended my hand to her and placed my other hand over that hand too. I then felt led to bless he brother with the Oil Of Gladness anointing oil that he liked and I said to him that when your sister is sick you use this oil and pray for her.
When I left that store I began to cry outside as I shared with my friends that is God and that is how He works through me. I was ever so humbled to be able to pray with that child. No I did not have silver or gold for them but I had Jesus and healing anointing with me just for them this very day. To God be the glory. To God be the glory. If you kind of know me you then know that tears are in my eyes right now as I recount this.
One more thought. I was told that the journey I was on last weekend that I was only about 25 minutes away from where eagles reside. If I would have known that I would have gone in search for them last weekend just to catch a glimpse. When the timing is right I will see the eagles in the sky. How majestic, how grand.
